I was taken advantage of by an internet confidence trickster.

"Pound" is my frequently used term to say something has been stated and re-stated "repeatedly," even if each new post on the subject includes new and important information. And while that may be interpreted as a slight against anyone who has discussed RISK, it is in fact not, as per what I...

Very true. In my earlier posts, I sought to speak to us as individuals first, but it is true that a collective bitterness, sour spirit, and general pessimistic outlook can impact us negatively as a whole. I do wish to make clear that I was not saying this forum has such a problem. I do feel...

There's even a book on Amazon about the Coleco Chameleon here: https://www.amazon.com/-/en/dp/1837910537 Note the comment there by FutureMan. He specifically mentions "Sean Rox geek with social skills." Date: June 2023. Since the book includes the experience of Mike Kennedy, I can only assume...

By the way, Adrian's Digital Basement (a high profile YouTube channel, for those of you who don't already know), has chimed in here: I strongly recommend reading through the comments under that video. I did. There are gems in there, especially from Ron. I also recommend expanding and...

I see topic about "risk" is now being debated. I had spoken of the risk in being nice to people or trusting them, but now the talk is about risk to this forum for having taken a righteous stand in allowing this thread to exist openly. But the risk to this forum is not less or more than the...

I have read that sentiment expressed by many through the years, and I have a few thoughts to share about it. I personally have never made my being nice contingent upon how others treat me. If I did that, my love would soon wax cold. Instead I strive to do unto others just as I would have them...

Identifying and confirming fake 68040 CPUs (especially the L88M mask)

It's important to bear in mind the "V" at the end of the part number means 3.3V operation. Consider this 40MHz rated PGA 68040 and its horrifically shocking price... https://www.rocelec.com/part/01t4w00000PPjCUAA1-MC68040RC40V Want to drop that "V" at the end and get a 5V version? Prepare...

Identifying and confirming fake 68040 CPUs (especially the L88M mask)

Run the machine for 1 hour and give it the touch test, or use a good Thermal Camera if you have one. I personally can't keep my finger on a CPU that is 60°C or hotter.

Identifying and confirming fake 68040 CPUs (especially the L88M mask)

Install Norton Utilities 3.5.3, then boot into System 7.1 or 7.5.5. Find "System Info" in the Norton app collection and run it. It's a Benchmark utility. It will tell you if the CPU has an FPU or not. Running the benchmark will tell you the performance, which should fall in line with other 040...

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

@Androda Thank you very much for your two replies. So if we look at U7 in your marked-up PCB layouts for older BSv2's, we see for example that one side of the 4.7kΩ resistor (that must be added) goes from Vcc (pin14) of U7, and the other side of that resistor goes to pins 4 (2OE) & 5 (2A)...

GOTCHAS when buying a Macintosh Portable?

When clicking your link as of today, March 5th, choosing the low cost "Kit" shows OUT OF STOCK. Can we buy just the 3D printed Mounting Bracket from you? If so, how do we proceed with ordering that bracket-only? If we cannot buy only the mounting bracket from you, could you please provide a...

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

While waiting for the answer about the resistors (see my previous 2 posts -- sorry, but I am persistent when it comes to seeking important replies), I would like to inquire about the Androda/TechKnight RAM card because the quote above mentions only 7MB of RAM. I recently acquired a Backlit...

Well, it seems like no one yet knows. But when someone does know, I look forward to hearing that info. Thank you!

Radius Rocket & Radius Thunder 24/GT compatible?

Thank you for the feedback, @KennyPowers . Interestingly enough, the only graphics card incompatibility information I could find, pertaining to the Radius Rocket, had to do with RasterOps video cards. Keyword search the article below for “rasterops”...

Mystic Died. Looking for an MC88916DW80 chip.

I did more testing today. When Spicy O'Clock is set to 43.2MHz, all is well in terms of OS booting and Snooper 2.0 operation. Not only does Snooper 2 launch without freezing, but using my Serial Loopback Plugs, Snooper gives an OK to Printer and Modem testing. When I move the jumper on Spicy...

@Mr. Fahrenheit Thank you for sharing those details. This person appears to be a “mail fraud” criminal feeding off our good natured community. It upsets me his YouTube channel is still up, as that serves to give him some level of legitimacy in the minds of uninformed people who haven’t seen the...

Radius Rocket & Radius Thunder 24/GT compatible?

On a somewhat different yet related note, having the two cards installed in a IIci is pushing the limits of the NuBus power allotment. IIci Technical Reference info: So +5V @6A for all 3 slots. Power requirements of the Thunder 24/GT video card shown to be +5V @2.2A: Power requirements of...

@slomacuser Thank you for your kindness. Unfortunately, that was one of the links I had Googled up prior to writing my opening post. The relevant pages on that site are these: Rocket Q&A https://machut.net/mirrors/radius.vintagebox.de/RadiusQA/Rockets.html Thunder 24/GT Q&A...
