Anyone have experience with the ATTiny RTC Module?

By the looks of the photo, the pin1 indicator on the chip is traced to the square pad solder pin (all the other pads are round) on the top left (left photo), indicating pin1.

Worth investigating or shall I break it for parts

Found the video link from @HrutkayMods , it says 512MB and 1MB are flaky.

Worth investigating or shall I break it for parts

I recall reading a thread somewhere (or a @HrutkayMods video) that the 512MB DIMMs were rather flaky and it suggested NOT to use them. I will have to see if I saved that reference. Edit: found the video

Worth investigating or shall I break it for parts

So you are saying riser A had ram in slot 1+2 and riser B had ram in slots 3+4? The correct config should be both A+B with ram in 1+2 (closest to the edge connector).

Worth investigating or shall I break it for parts

Sorry, yeah, G5 will run with a single DIMM, but intel requires 2. OWC lists 1 in each if you are only using 2. But I have run them with 2 in either riser as well. Two DIMMs (standard configuration) One on the top memory card and one on the bottom card Four DIMMsFour DIMMs One pair on the...

Worth investigating or shall I break it for parts

I would try removing all but 1 stick of ram and see what happens. Possibly replace the thermal compound on the CPUs and the mid-board heatsink next to the PCIE slots. If you have access to an IR camera, you can see whats heating up. I have 2x 1,1, a 2,1 (1,1 firmware upgraded), and 2x 3,1...

    Last finds of August 2024

This week I did not get to Free Geek Minneapolis on Wednesday. So I went on Saturday (today). There was a pile of several SUN systems if anyone wanted to know. I still can't say no. There was another G4 project for $10, 'no boot, no video card, as-is' It has 4 sticks of RAM, I pulled them...

    iPod collection

So I am guessing my battery is a dud. Ordered a replacement on eBay. I got it to recognize one time on iTunes, but the battery did not hold long enough for it to fully restore. Ran the scan on the HD, and it passed. I have an IDE/CF adapter on the way as well, so hope to convert to CF...

    iPod collection

Apparently this is the result of charging it while on FireWire... I plugged into iTunes via USB-30pin and it sees the iPod and that it needs an update. I will have to let it charge fully and then try a software update or restore on it. Ordered the CF-IDE adapters to go solid state with it.

    iPod collection

Update: received my FW-30pin charge cable today. While I was waiting, i disassembled the Dock Connector (Gen3) and found the blue rubber to be extremely sticky. It does not look like battery leakage, so maybe the rubber is degrading? or maybe too much glue on the tinfoil side? I cleaned...

Troubles reinstalling OS 8.5 on SSD in G3 B&W

I call the inner one the one near the center of the board edge, next to the power plug (hard drive bus). I call the outer one the one in the corner nearest the PCIE slot covers (optical drive bus). I am just curious if the green one you have would work on the other bus.

Troubles reinstalling OS 8.5 on SSD in G3 B&W

Then I must ask one question, did you try both busses? As my red adapter only worked on the outer bus, not the inner on the G3 B&W. Also remember they claim the B&W will only boot from a master drive and not a slave. Note: I learned my clear case adapter is for on a drive, not the...

    Firewire - SCSI

Would it be easier just to put a SCSI card in your machine? What is your use case (laptop, desktop, etc and what external device)?

Get your hoard all at once from the land of cheese

I saw this listing from Wisconsin Craigslist... $7K for four shelves full and more! Listed as "may or may not work", looks like about 80+ machines, not all Apple, but still less than $100 each.

    iPod collection

Since this is my first iPod Classic Gen 3, I did not know you needed the 12V Firewire to 30pin charge cable. So I will have to order one or build a hack cable just to charge it.

    iPod collection

I found a craigslist ad for an old iBook G4, Mac Mini, two iPods, and lots of accessories for $100... when I got there, they seller had already sold the two computers for $60, so I took the remaining two iPods and accessories for $40. Gen 1 scroll wheel (charging) and Gen 3 dock connector (no...

Motobike restoration project in the near future (hopefully) :)

A Google search for Yamaha GT 80 results in lots of stuff from early 70s up to 1980. I never had a motorbike either. Looks like your are in for some fun!

    iMac G4 to M1 Advice?

I picked up a dozen 27" and other misc 21-24" machines in a garage clearance. 21 computes for US$150. So, yes, I am working on all those failed GPU issues, and looking at using a couple with dead motherboards as monitors only. There are much cheaper control boards from eBay/AliExpress.

    iMac G4 to M1 Advice?

I have an old 15" that I gutted over 10 years ago for a Hackintosh project I haven't built yet, long before I decided to become a collector. I have since acquired both a 15" and 17" which are fully functional with SSDs installed. While I like this idea of the Juicy Crumb kit, it seems cost...
