    "Spicy O'clock" project has started

Keep in mind that is 40mm. The heatsink I will show in my forthcoming video is 45mm and covers the entire top surface area of the chip. I think it's best to cover most of the chip where possible to maximize cooling.

Because the MC88916DW80 was mentioned by Kay, I should remind everyone that on my LC575 board, I have the slower MC88916DW55 chip. You can see that chip in this section of my Part I video. But despite that slower DW55 chip, I have broken the 50MHz barrier with Kay's new 2-chip VRAM. There's...

CC Overclocking: how to show "FPS" on games like Doom II

Eric, I just confirmed that FPS does not appear on my 68K Mac after changing the screen size. So what you are seeing is either a PPC only feature or maybe there was some code entered in the past on your machine that enabled it. Anyway, thank you! --James

Duke Nukem 3D: How to activate Demo Mode or Auto Play?

I've installed Duke Nukem 3D on my Color Classic Mystic: https://macintoshgarden.org/games/duke-nukem-3d-atomic-edition I want to have it auto-play on a CC while I sit beside the machine and shoot a segment for my next video. Of course, I could do a "hack" whereby I sit down and play the game...

CC Overclocking: how to show "FPS" on games like Doom II

Thanks. Well, I need to test it again, but in all my countless hours and days and weeks of testing with Doom II, no screen size changes I ever made resulted in FPS showing. So the key difference here would appear to be the fact I am using a 68K Mac while you are on a PPC machine. I will...

Was I mistaken in assuming that the guy in France (Silicon Insider) is the creator of that VRAM on EBAY? I thought those VRAM SIMMs where his creation.

CC Overclocking: how to show "FPS" on games like Doom II

I was filming and editing last night and had no time to test that. My time this evening is also limited, but just to quickly confirm, can you tell me the exact steps that need to be done? For example... 1. Launch Doom II. 2. Change Screen Size slider to anything at all. 3. Play game and enjoy...

    "Spicy O'clock" project has started

@Zane Kaminski I was just talking to @Kay K.M.Mods yesterday about the $25 50ns VRAM from Silicon Insider. It's for PPC Macs and therefore not pin-compatible with the LC575 motherboard, but when my eyes spotted that my brain was laser-focused on the "50ns" part! The chip capacity is larger...

CC Overclocking: how to show "FPS" on games like Doom II

Thank you, Eric! I already filmed the games segment of my video last night, and I don't have time to add new content to that, but just to confirm, when you changed screen size in Doom II, you were given an option for FPS, or it was automatic? I ask because I've changed the screen size in the...

CC Overclocking: how to show "FPS" on games like Doom II

Yes, I am wondering how to invoke an in-game console on the Mac version, but so far, I've not figured out a way.

CC Overclocking: how to show "FPS" on games like Doom II

Do any of you know how to display the Frame Rate in Doom II or Marathon or Wolfenstein 3D or Dark Forces? I'm overclocking my Color Classic Mystic and want to show before/after FPS. https://macintoshgarden.org/games/doom-ii

FileMaker Pro IWP (database publishing on the web)

Thank you very much for making time to watch my screencast! It seems you are suggesting we consider 1 of 2 things: 1. Rebuild the record content inside a different database and then hire someone to build a custom UI on top of that. or 2. Hire a PHP programmer to do the API interface with our...

FileMaker Pro IWP (database publishing on the web)

Thank you for the suggestions. I'd never heard of Caddy before, but looking at the website now, I see it is web server software. Since we are on a shared hosting server (not a dedicated server), which is deliberate on our part to keep our web serving costs to a rock bottom minimum, I don't see...

FileMaker Pro IWP (database publishing on the web)

Sorry for my delayed reply. I am just too busy to reply when at home these days with my wife still hospitalized, but now that I am here at work, I can make the time since, technically speaking, this is work-related. Looking at my website folder hierarchy, I see this: home > public_html > dev...

FileMaker Pro IWP (database publishing on the web)

Thank you for the recommendation. I suppose it boils down to what our web host provider will allow. We pay MacUSA to host our FileMaker databases, but we pay a different company (Superior Host) to host our websites. Our websites are on shared hosting, not a dedicated server. That keeps costs...

FileMaker Pro IWP (database publishing on the web)

Work related question today. Since I am talking about "vintage" software for Macs, I felt it only reasonable to post my query on TinkerDifferent! :-) Many years ago, my employer paid a web programmer to build a mySQL database for us, such that we could put our car security related vehicle...

My MacSD Upgrade for the Colour Classic [and Stereo Mod]

@Kay K.M.Mods has done the stereo mod. Maybe he knows the secret to getting the full "Monitors & Sound" control panel to display in System 7.6 or 8.1?

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

To continue the adventure, here's my newly released video (Part I) on Spicy O'Clock: I had to abruptly cut it short due to an ongoing family medical emergency, which I explain in the ending segment and text description. But it's enough information to help people get started with the amazing...

RAM for LC575 & Color Classic Mystic

For those of you with more than 32MB of RAM in your Color Classic Mystic (e.g., a 64MB SIMM or 128MB SIMM), what things are you doing with your Mac to take advantage of all that RAM, or is it largely wasted? I ask because I have 32MB + 4MB right now, and I am not coming close to filling the...
