Hey @techknight - I picked up one of your cards second hand. It kinda works, but sometimes I get a Memory Manager Error and need to reboot. If I select "About Finder" it does this for example. But I tried a few other apps and games and they worked fine. It's not clear how the jumpers should be...

I dropped my 1970 911 (see pic earlier in thread) in for its annual service today. The temperature dropped considerably over the weekend here, so she was humming beautifully all the way. Then I caught the bus to work! :(

I had this exact same issue... about 20 seconds after boot the Portable would just start wailing from the speaker. I'd previously recapped and cleaned the board, and the board in question is super nice - no corrosion. I started looking for areas that hadn't cleaned properly and in doing so...

It's a weird circumstance that I've not come across before (myself, or from reading). Guess i'll try replacing U8 (after I actually find a replacement) and see if that rectifies the situation.

I've got a Classic II here that's had both the LB and AB recapped. Also replaced QP1, TDA4605, DP3 and DP4. I get happy chime and then the cursor comes up, but it never tries to boot from anything. Not the HDD, not the floppy, nor any external SCSI device (BlueSCSI, SCSI2SD). The cursor...

They’re just line filters… AB will operate without them.. ie replacing them unlikely to fix a borked AB.

@retr01, can we try to keep this thread on topic... there's plenty of other places to discuss CRT's and non-Vectrex hardware hacking...

Do you really need to replace those newer style filter caps? The ones that blow up on the early Macs are different.. I've only ever bothered replacing the older style...

I have a working Classic II (last I checked anyway) you can try your board in if you like.

I've assembled and tested mine briefly, but haven't had to use it in anger yet. It was certainly a fun build, especially if you like PTH builds!

Umm, not really. Plenty of places use 220-240V.. like here in Australia. That being said the original was never sold here (to my knowledge), I think partly because the name has different connotations in local parlance... I shall say no more on that topic.

I still reckon After Dark is super easy to do this...

Yeah, you need a license file to open up the full software... that could be challenging.
