    Power Macintosh 7100/80 Cache

Thanks, no ROM chips there (would be 4 pretty big ones) there so this is not a combo ROM/L2 cache module from a 6200. Those small chips are likely just part of the cache logic. I guess some component(s) just went bad on your L2 cache module :-/

    Power Macintosh 7100/80 Cache

The L2 Cache modules for PM 6100/7100/8100 Macs seem extra rare, I see ones for later Power Macs on eBay from time to time but not these. A G3/G4 PDS CPU upgrade is a much bigger performance boost but they go for several hundred these days. Would be cool if these got recreated, especially a...

    Power Macintosh 7100/80 Cache

Yes, that appears to be a L2 cache module. The connector notches indicate it would FIT in the 6100/7100/8100 PMs, but that connector is also shared with the 62xx series which use combo ROM/L2 cache modules. Maybe it's one of those and not just a dead Cache module? Can you post a picture of the...

PowerMac 6500 PCI graphics card options? (Feeling overwhelmed)

The 6500 has two 7" PCI slots so you can't use AGP cards in it, only 7" PCI graphics cards. Are you going for multiple displays and/or an upgrade from the 6500's built-in ATI 3D Rage II with 2MB of VRAM? On their own the built in graphics aren't bad in my opinion, a nice step up from the 6400...

BlueSCSI v2 Pico - Low cost, open hardware, fast SCSI device!

Oh good, sometimes I guess I interpret offense in wording that isn‘t intended. I know I struggle with communicating nuisance sometimes, I probably over rely on on emoji. Agreed! I think for PPC Macs with PCI slots there are likely some fast SCSI options that might not be that hard to find...

BlueSCSI v2 Pico - Low cost, open hardware, fast SCSI device!

Sorry, didn’t mean to offend, just thought question was about what Macs support 10MB/s fast SCSI out of the box. Don’t think we’d want folks thinking the PPC Performa 6200 has fast SCSI or example, it’s not all PPC Macs. A list of 10MB/s fast SCSI NuBus, PDS and PCI cards would definitely be...

PPC Macs that don’t have an built in IDE drive or are the 6100. 😀

BlueSCSI v2 Pico - Low cost, open hardware, fast SCSI device!

I believe built in, internal 10MB/s ”Narrow (8bit) Fast” SCSI first showed up on the Power Macintosh 7100 & 8100. The 7300, 7500, 7600, 8500, 8600, 9500 & 9600 are the other later models with it before they switched to IDE with the intro of G3 models. PPC Macs with built in IDE for their hard...

    BlueSCSI Toolbox

Got it and I'm sure folks figure it out just fine once in there. Not an interface expert by any means but maybe labeling the button as "Set as Next CD" would add context? I guess that's kinda wordy for a button though. I can't wait to find time to play with all these wonderful new features that...

    BlueSCSI Toolbox

I'm likely missing something obvious but how do you control which CD image is "next"? Is it highlighting one of the images in the CD Changer app interface list? Reordering it?

    PRAM battery voltage ranges

Someone may prove me wrong but I think Apple didn’t change anything about their logic boards‘ battery backup voltage requirements when they switched from using 3.6v Lithium batteries to 4.5v Alkaline batteries. I believe the later just has a quicker voltage drop off, both having a voltage...

    “Latest activity” view without reactions?

I really like the “Like” emoticon responses but agree it would be nice to have a latest activity view without them from a practical perspective of a real content activity update summary view.

SATA SSD on a Power Macintosh G3

Not sure I’m totally following your test cases, but could this be a Rev A Beige Power Mac G3 issue? https://lowendmac.com/roadapples/g3-reva.html Rev A only supports a single device (I believe set as master) on each bus.

    Tsunami motherboard L2 cache card?

I made a resource article on the topic of identifying Power Macintosh L2 cache modules! https://tinkerdifferent.com/resources/ppc-macintosh-l2-cache-modules.19/ I only have one entry for Tsunami architecture compatible 1MB L2 cache modules although there are most definitely more out there (not...

I think they’re talking about the Power Macintosh G3 Blue & White, which had USB but retained ADB as well. Last Mac with ADB I think?
