    Tunnel vision on PB170

I would say at this point if you do any work on any 100 series laptop you should be prepared to repair broken plastics. Not sure about super glue/baking soda but I used a construction epoxy adhesive with great results. As for the baking, just remove the glass panel LCD sandwich, pop it on an...

$450 delivered seems like a fair chunk of cash you want someone else to pay to explore your idea. I doubt anyone here has pockets that deep. Baking works, I’m sticking with that since it’s essentially free.

    10.2 (Jaguar) on the mini

Yes it is delicious! 10.2 is the most recent OS that can still communicate with unmodified System 6 using AppleTalk, can also communicate with OS13 via modern Ethernet protocols. It’s the sweet spot for a cross generational file server.

    10.2 (Jaguar) on the mini

For reasons to do with LocalTalk I’m wanting to install OS 10.2 onto a G4 Mac Mini. Minimum supported os is 10.3 I’ve put in a hard drive with an existing install of 10.2.8 (server) and it boots but there’s no video drivers so the screen is just a weird black and white unscaled mess. Now someone...

    Tunnel vision on PB170

Update to my original video on page 1. It’s been 11 months since I baked the panel on the 170. I had the machine on for 30 minutes and it exhibited the exact same minuscule amount of tunneling as it did directly after baking. No worse. I know others have claimed this is a medium term fix at...

I did try the tab tightening technique, although the guy posted this method on a Facebook group, same guy though I believe cause he also mentioned the chip reprogramming method. I didn’t see any difference in my testing. But hey it’s worth a shot, the moisture theory is only a theory. I reckon...

Are you sure the internal signal is RGB? Wouldn’t think that would be useful on a greyscale lcd. perhaps on a colour lcd, but even then I’m not so sure.

It’s probably not a bad idea to throw a few silica bags under the bezel when reassembling, provided there’s enough room.

    Tunnel vision on PB170

Hi everyone! My name is Johann and I made the video linked earlier in the thread. I’ve made another video where I try baking the LCD panel and have achieved great results. Not 100% better but close. I suspect more baking will yield better results. Short of buying a new panel this is the only...
