Hey everyone! We've been having issues with being bombarded by forum spam bots. As a temporary measure we're disabling registration for around 72 hours. Anyone wanting to join up as a legitimate user, please have patience! :)
A version 1.0 of the webmin module has now been tagged and release tarball published at https://github.com/Netatalk/netatalk-webmin/releases/tag/netatalk2-1.0
It only takes a few min to get set up, inbetween following the steps at https://webmin.com/download/ and then installing the module...
I haven't used the C2 a lot yet, but I think the selling point is how versatile it is. You can emulate two ROM slots. It can emulate a Music ROM, Backup RAM, IDE hard drives with FAT16 file systems and boot capability...
It kinda turns the MSX into a gaming and productivity work horse. :)
It works! With the latest c2man40.com for Korean/Arabic systems, I can flash the boot menu and load ROMs to my heart's content. That was such an epic journey to get to this point.
The final stretch to get to a working environment, if anyone reading this is struggling, was the following...
@pfuentes69 Unfortunately I have yet to able to get the Carnivore fdisk software to work with the Daewoo CPC-400. I tried a multitude of combinations of MSX DOS boot disks and versions of Carnivore fdisk, to no avail.
Actually, now when I read my thread of the msx.org forums I see a new message...
The last few weeks I've been working hard on getting the 20-year-old Webmin module up to shape and compatible with the latest Netatalk 2.2 and Webmin 2.0.
For most current Netatalk users this is probably more of a novelty, but I was thinking that it might lower the bar of entry for new users...
For all of you who are actively using netatalk today, please head over to this poll and tell us which OS you're running it on!
We'd love to know more about your particular environment and challenges. This helps us prioritize feature development, testing, and bug fixes in the future.
I wanted to leave this note that I'm not planning to announce dot releases of Netatalk in these forums anymore, unless there's a new killer feature that got added, or something. :)
There is a new 2.2.10 release available over at GitHub, which I tagged a few days ago. It consists of a handful of...
Great summary, thanks for sharing! I wish it would have been as easy to "mod" the CoCo2, but alas... I have been researching various internal mods and will attempt shortly.
To continue the barrage of Netatalk topics, I just wanted to share that you are now able run an AFP server on macOS, if you're bummed out that Apple deprecated their AFP server with 10.9 Mavericks.
The release of Netatalk 3.1.15 marks the culmination of 2 years of hard work by dgsga, originally...
I'm proud to present Netatalk 2.2.9, the latest release in the venerable Netatalk branch that maintains AppleTalk support.
Find the release tarballs on GitHub: https://github.com/Netatalk/netatalk/releases/tag/netatalk-2-2-9
Notably, this version fixes one security vulnerability and one papd...
This is a very simple and well-known mod for the Macintosh Plus, but I haven't seen it documented on TD so here goes:
The Plus does not provide termination power on the SCSI interface from the factory, but has the requisite circuitry to do so, if you add a diode to CR1 on the logic board (right...
As a quick introduction, the Retro Chip Tester Pro is a device created by German engineer Stephan Slabihoud which is designed to test a very broad range of vintage chips with an emphasis on 80s tech. It is an actively developed product at the time of writing, with support for more chips added...
There was some very informative discussion in the comment section of my first video, and I was made aware that the DS12887 already has an internal oscillator (which in hindsight I should have noticed) so hooking up another one in serial breaks the circuit design. I made a follow-up video to...
Do you think it would make sense to merge this Mac Garden page with the below? It has a collection of three other variants of hacked Apple optical drivers.
https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/apple-cd-rom-extension-patched
BTW, you may have seen this already but there's this classic article...
If you have looked inside many a 90s PC, you will probably have spotted one of a range of Dallas manufactured RTC chips. These are integrated circuits that handle the real time clock, as well as containing an internal lithium battery to drive the CMOS circuitry. When these ICs run out of juice...
Netatalk 2.2.8 is now available!
It is a bugfix and documentation release. All users of Netatalk 2.2.x are advised to upgrade.
I spent some time overhauling man pages and the html manual, so these should be accurate and up to date to use as reference.
One of my favorite updates in this...
I recently acquired a Korean MSX2 (Daewoo CPC-400) and learned pretty quickly that little non-Korean floppy disk software is compatible with this machine. As per msx.org, it has its own proprietary MSX1 backwards compatibility circuitry rather than the industry-standard MSX-Engine IC. So I went...
FYI, I was promoted to "developer" of the upstream project, and was given admin privileges of the official website. So over the last week I've been updating the website (netatalk.sourceforge.io), fixing dead URLs etc., as well as making the 2.2 manual current with the state of the software. The...
Quick note that we found an issue with the release tarball. A header file hasn't been included by the dist script. This is being addressed in https://github.com/Netatalk/Netatalk/pull/183
A workaround is to clone the git repo, check out the branch-netatalk-2-2 branch, and build the code from...
