What I've received as of late...

John, that IIfx is gorgeous! No doubt that needs a place to be proudly displayed. I've also added to my collection. In July, I was gifted a 20th Anniversary Mac by a former employer. It came with boxes and almost all of the accessories and parts. I think he knows that it's going to be well...

The Apple gods hath smiled upon me.

Me: "Of course not!" Also me: "Where else can I post?" Seriously, I figure not everyone on those FB pages is on here. If you are, sorry. I'm only slightly excited to have this machine. Thank you for putting up with my noise.

The Apple gods hath smiled upon me.

A couple of years ago, a former employer that I've kept in touch with provided me with a couple of old PowerBooks. They helped me pass the time while visiting my in-laws out-of-state. Just last week, he texted me again. I've been bugging him for a few years about this machine and have...

    Trenton Computer Festival

I figured Steve would be there. That's in his neck of the woods. I'm about 1.5 hour north of Trenton, but I never made it out of the house. I'll get down to VCF East this year. Hopefully. It was enjoyable last year.

    Trenton Computer Festival

Just curious to see if anyone here is going to the Trenton Computer Festival in Trenton, NJ on Saturday, March 18th. I'm thinking of heading down and checking stuff out. I've never been able to attend.

Need an ATX power supply for an older case

That looks like it will work. However, I'm being a cheap bastard and don't want to spend that much on a new power supply. This is for a retro tower I've found and want to have a little fun with. You point out that the fan is on the bottom, so seeing that I now know to look more closely for the...

Need an ATX power supply for an older case

The fan will be obstructed by that case. No vent on top. Can I install the PSU upside-down? Oh! And I found the case I have. I'm assuming mine is older, but this is almost exactly what it looks like. https://www.ebay.com/itm/165885052193?hash=item269f850521

    2023 PowerPC Challenge!

I've not had a chance to participate in the challenge this year. I'd planned on doing something with my quad G5, but the software I'm using for virtual tour photography only works on Catalina or newer. For that, I have to use one of my 2012 dual-core 2.5GHz Mac Minis (newest machine I own). But...

Need an ATX power supply for an older case

I was on FBMP and came across a huge tower that has four 5 1/2" drive bays, two floppy drive bays, and provisions for two hard drives. It came with a USB/Firewire card, Firewire card, video card, CDRW drive, RAM, and a very suitable motherboard with IDE and SATA connections. Not bad for $20...

Compaq laptop brought back to life

If I remember correctly, it was two button type batteries next to each other in a "cocoon" of sorts. It was wired to the motherboard with a small connector. I should've taken a picture of it, but it was late and I just wanted to get it unplugged so I could test it in the morning.

What I've received as of late...

John, that's a significant list of great scores. The only thing I have to show for is a Quadra 700 with an AppleColor High Resolution Color Display. I did manage to also score a SCSI CD-ROM drive. Now I'm waiting for a CD caddy I just grabbed from ebay. I'm thinking of making a video about it.

    Video?

I'd second the idea of using a third-party solution like YouTube or Vimeo. The conversion process for creating the different sizes is going to take up a lot of resources and space. It's already been done. Let someone else handle it.

Compaq laptop brought back to life

It's pretty old-school and drifty, for lack of better terms. I get a lot of smearing and trails. I definitely adds to the nostalgia of the piece. I'll check out the Microsoft Arcade. I've been primarily a Mac guy but I don't discriminate. Tech is tech!

Compaq laptop brought back to life

A couple of years ago, I picked up this BIOS-password-locked Compaq laptop. To remove the password, I would have to take apart the laptop and remove the CMOS battery for a period of time. After the laptop sat for MONTHS, I found a video on where to locate the battery and took out my handy...

Transfer files from PowerBook G3 Pismo to PowerBook 190cs

I need to make a correction. I have a Pismo and I wish I still had my Lombard. Sorry if that was confusing. I obviously was.

Transfer files from PowerBook G3 Pismo to PowerBook 190cs

Nope. No zip drives. Ideally, If I had a Pismo, I wouldn't be in this conundrum.

Transfer files from PowerBook G3 Pismo to PowerBook 190cs

I'd love some additional suggestions on getting a driver for the Ethernet card from my Lombard (or G5 or Mac Mini) over to my 190cs. I love a good puzzle and this one has been a mystery. I have a SCSI drive with files that I'd like to transfer to a USB hard drive. All the necessary cables are...

Vintage Computer Festival East in Wall, NJ

Ha! "Definitely next year!" That's what I said last year. I'm glad I went. Met some really great people and saw some really cool stuff. As far as stuff I have that I'm looking for find new homes for, I have a few things. Apple IIc with issues (has power supply) Apple IIc joysticks (currently...
