Mac Mini G4
120 GB SSD
1 GB RAM (max)
Mac OS 9.2
This has certainly been one of my easiest Apple projects so far but it’s been quite rewarding. If you’re looking for a cheap way to run games in 9.2, this is the way to do it!
The process was surprisingly easy. However, I had to make a late night run to Walmart to pick up some blank CD-RWs. My goal has been to play Deus Ex on a system running the original program on a native OS. With the maxed out RAM and SSD this is blistering fast and satisfying project.
Thank you for sharing. I've been picking these up cheaply from eBay because they are so easy to work on and don't take up much space in the office.
I've considered installing OS 9 to one of them to play Dues Ex.
Picked up a G5 from Facebook Marketplace for a decent deal. Never owned one before and I’m relatively new to the hobby.
Work completed:
Thorough cleaning
Installed Airport Express
Clean and repaste CPU with Arctic MX-4
Clean install of Leopard and downloaded patches to 10.5.8
Install Warcraft...
Picking up my Marchintosh project tomorrow evening. Found a Power Mac G5 tower with display for a good deal on FB marketplace. I'll share more when its in my hands.
