Yes, the Cinema Hinge replacement is here. I wonder if a replacement hinge / tabbed component could be 3D printed with a carbon fibre / nylon filament? Looking at the alloy from the photo, it's clearly not very strong.

MacOS may be hiding the real extension. As a result you may be inadvertently renaming your files to “myfile.img.hda”. Check for the extension setting in finder or have a quick Google. Setting the extension to “img” has worked for me in the past (though it’s been nearly a year).
