SheepShaver and BasiliskII building for BeOS

I was able to build at least portions of this on my BeBox with BeOS 5.0.3, but you can get a full build of SheepShaver and several versions of BasiliskII from gopher://gopher.floodgap.com/1/archive/be-power - it's in the emu/ folder. If you have a lot of RAM and SheepShaver or BasiliskII...

    Cleaning up Family Apple "Collection"

It's a Rage Orion, which is a Mac-specific Rage 128GL. Not a monster video card but not a slouch. I agree with Nycturne: I wonder if something else is going wrong. G4s aren't in general toasty chips. Have you been able to get any sort of temperature reading off it?

That is a nice reconstruction job!

    Cleaning up Family Apple "Collection"

No, heat wasn't a problem (the Sonnets have their own CPU fans and there was decent air flow). This seems to be power budget and the 1GHz card just pushes it over the edge. One of those round tuit things - it did make a noticeable difference in Virtual PC though. As soon as the 3D card got into...

    Cleaning up Family Apple "Collection"

Very good. My own 7300 has a Sonnet 800MHz G4, a Rage Orion and an OrangePC 620 (needs tweaking to start up with CPU Director), with two 18GB SCSI drives and a 24x CD-ROM. This is starting to strain the PSU, though, as noted when I tried a Sonnet 1GHz G4 and got random freezes which seem to be...

Hear, hear. Sir Roger will always be my favourite Bond (though my favourite Bond movie is Diamonds are Forever, purely because it is easily the weirdest one).

    I've got a 620 in my own 7300.

    Macintosh IIfx nostalgia

Yup, Jagubox was the bomb. I still have a Gopher mirror of it: gopher://gopher.floodgap.com:70/1/archive/jagubox-gsfc-nasa-gov-aux My clock-chipped Q800 is my current A/UX workhorse, though.

Need solution for HDI-45 to DB-15 connectors for video out

So did the 9150 (PDS terminator), though it has a regular DA-15 port for video.

Macintosh IIsi, Recapped, quite chime, no display.

This is well within spec for the IIsi's components, owing to its provenance as a cut-down IIci. It will run fine at the higher speed.

Need solution for HDI-45 to DB-15 connectors for video out

More likely to be PDS. O.G. PCI only dates to around 1992 and Apple had no compatible ecosystem at the time.

Upgrading the 1MB Stacy to 4MB

This was a huge pain. The 1MB unit doesn't seem to be upgradeable with the Atari 4MB card; perhaps a third party one? I got it in there but I had to cut the metal shield which was its own adventure. https://oldvcr.blogspot.com/2025/01/refurb-weekend-atari-stacy.html

    Atari ST forum permissions?

Wanted to talk about my recent Stacy upgrade semi-debacle, but the ST Forum says I don't have sufficient permissions to post there? (The other Atari forums look okay.)

    Playing with a Recreated TechStep

My O.G. TechStep will not talk to one of my IIcis. I "read somewhere" that this could be due to a bad resistor pack. It will also not talk to my SE/30. I snooped the serial connection and determined that the computer is not responding to the *V command despite supporting everything else.

"Fixed" my Canon Cat floppy drive, but Cat doesn't think it's reading/writing

I'm wondering if it's misaligned, yeah. It looks like it's seated just fractionally further back than mine is. Unfortunately this would be very hard to figure out since I have no idea exactly what properly aligned means for a Cat drive. This won't help you sell it, but since it's possible to...

"Fixed" my Canon Cat floppy drive, but Cat doesn't think it's reading/writing

No, they don't need to be prepared in any special way - the Cat will reformat the disk if necessary. It sounds like your drive is indeed busted. :( That said, I'm having difficulty visualizing how the drive head looks. Can you post a picture? When you say it doesn't click in place, what are you...
