Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

Yep! Banks A & B are defined in the docs, A is the buffered Vampire Video kluge. There are quite a few, but much less adventurous IC to SIMM conversions in terms of pin count out there. Gotta get the SuperIIsi build up to match the SE/30 spec. Don't really need to though. Rocket33 will power...

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

Makes sense, in the DuoDock you have the same 25MHz system bus, NuChip and a 40MHz crystal. Maybe it's only the Radius NuBus adapter that's dependent upon system clock for timing? Curiouser and curiouser.

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

Yep, I know about the two full sets of connections for banks A and B on MDU, but most are available on the Bank A memory pads. It's been at least five years, so I'm thinking RAS2 would need to be jumpered from MDU along with A9 and A10 for six bodge wires in total to support 64MB in a Bank A...

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

Not slow if you're avoiding the Vampire Video anchor. ;) Best diagram I could come up with quickly from what I've posted on MLA: Here are the only three(?) lines you need to jumper directly from MDU above in order to address a high capacity 72-pin SIMM fom Bank A of the IIsi. ISTR there maybe...

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

Yep, Vampire Video slows things down, but it's only enabled if sense line signals are detected on the connector at startup and the buffering setup kicks in. As in pulling the Video ROM in the SE/30, $E built-in video also disappears from the Slot Manager Report in the IIsi. Moral of the story...

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

That's probably OK for a PDS Card expansion system, don't recall anything about memory issues with that relatively minor uptick? Contrary to LEM's Mythology, the IIsi system was never intended to be clocked at anything but 20MHz. Yes it shared many components with the IIci, but the 10MHz NuBus...

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

Interesting question about resolution! My WAG would be that the buffered main memory (Vampire Video) would be limited in ROM/memory map? Faster RAM is never a problem, it's addressed at the system clock at the same speed as specified RAM. Under spec/marginal RAM speed is a no go as it's not...

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

@Zane Kaminski what @ajacocks was lamenting would be lack of Ethernet if using a decent VidCard in Apple's standard PDS Adapter. Accelerator/Passthru risers are great, but won't solve that particular problem. If you have a TwinSlot riser, then two PDS cards will do the job if using an SE/30...

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

Check the PCB of the IIsi, can't imagine that setup being compatible in terms of height or expansion cubic interference even if a RA socket config?

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

Not true at all, especially so in the case of the Radius Color Pivot II/IIsi in combination with the Asante MacCon board for IIsi plugged into the RCPII/IIsi passthruslot. Provision is made on the two part breakout board of the MacCon. Just remove the ThickNet section from the 10bTsection and...

6500 db15 to vga adapter issues

Since you're getting no image at all: 1 - have you checked to make sure the harness connection to the video board is firmly in place and undamaged? 2 - stick to testing at 640x480 and 800x600 which are 60Hz VGA outputs: ____VGA/SVGA setting in Column 3 of the table, looks to have 5 choices of...

PowerView - The Weird PowerBook SCSI External Video Card

Nice snag! Love that thing. Not sure which one I have, SuperMac? But it's reported to be the same tech, if in a reintegrated/repackaged product. Radius bought SuperMac, simply rebranding the SuperMac's DSP card among other things IIRC. Very nice to see both boards for comparison. Ill have to...

    MacTilt

Love it, though I'd want to see provision for a metal frame insert incorporated. Front bezel looks perfect for SD slot and its HDD activity LED.

    MacTilt

LOL! I always thought of stuff like that as MASSIVE overkill/ludicrous over-engineering to achieve what was a simple solution to a simple problem. When my SE was wrecking my neck in the day it was brand new, I just bent a piece of 1/4" Plexi into a flopped over, roughly "Z" profile which angled...

    ADB KVM Switch - Thoughts?

Cool, was wondering about the increased functionality it might add to the project. In the late 80's, I think it might have been Don Lancaster (TTL & CMOS Cookbooks) who was saying that it made no sense to do a project without using a microcontroller. Still seems a bit extreme to me for something...

My 7 HDMI cable + 3 HDMI splitter Byzantine setup

I'm using brand new to me laptop as my main machine, finally running a 1440p display I lucked into! I will have a second 1080p display as well when I finally move back into the second bedroom after the carpet is in. I used the 6360/TV Tuner/VCR on the bench in the back when for a bit of...

My 7 HDMI cable + 3 HDMI splitter Byzantine setup

Cool setup! Does your powered splitter drop copy protection so you can watch DVD/BD via the HDMI capture device on one of your monitors while you work/play at the bench?
