BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

How wide is the combo chip interface to the processor bus? The unified bus of the 180 is 32bit, no? Bridged 68030 I/O bus in the 5x0 is narrower at only 16bit on top of its being downclocked.

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

Constantly flashing LED draws a tiny bit of power, a paramount consideration in PowerBook design. SCSI/SD replacement for spinner nails that box shut. Activity LED on BlueBird-SD-Module cover plate's a silly affection, but what the heck? Tinker Different! 🤪

    A takky Mac…..

Just so, TAM/6400 upgrade tangent popped up when removing the edge connector from your 630 board was suggested. That's the only reason I can think of to ever do that. Silly notion, wiring loom/MoBo drawer connection is the bombe for any other purpose. < /tangent >

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

One last shot, putting this stuff away in the project box today. Not pretty: __ vertical full size USB is a no go, TinyUSB flat on board should align well with puckered lips __ forgot to mark out the LED activity light on right __ everything's out of whack, but centering openings up shouldn't...

    A takky Mac…..

That's been tested, IDE vs. SCSI benchmarks are a wash in the 630. If anything IDE wins out by a hair IIRC, but that would be disk performance, unrelated to interface performance I think? CF/Adapter trumps all. ;)

TAM: incompatibility related to MoBo connector removal for 6400 upgrade . . . https://www.sonnettech.com/product/legacyproducts/tempo_trio.html . . . 68K upgrade of TAM sounds like fun?

Radius Stage II Rocket in a IIci

LOL! Welcome to my world of word wreckage. GRLF has a name for the sections missing from line of thoughts expressed in words, can't think of it offhand. Under RocketShare you can dedicate extended displays to Rocket and host. __ Period correct display sits on top of IIci processor shared host...

Radius Stage II Rocket in a IIci

Set your IIci and appropriate small monitor dedicated to its output next to your daily driver. Rocket dedicated hi resolution VidCard output KVM switched to your big screen. Wombat/USB conversion on the KM line goes without saying. ;)

    A takky Mac…..

The only reason I can think of for removing that connector would be upgrading a TAM for greater expansion card compatibility via 6400 infusion. Daydreaming there would be installing TEMPOtrio in the PCI slot for much faster, kosher ATA interface to SSD on top of its USB/FireWire baseline TAM...

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

Yep, that's the type to be avoided due to its slip-out SD card feature. Mentioned reasons for avoidance upthread. ;)

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

Shutdown would be what I was figuring on. Was up for a bit earlier and couldn't resist checking in (Covid Coughing fit) so sleep mode SD removal was silly notion as was the thumb drive complicattion. KISS principle adherence tends to be slack when I'm half asleep. < tangent > Vertical mount...

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

I was thinking updates via vertical USB port in the end cap over cable from computer, not storage. Maybe data transfer to SD from thumb drive, but that's redundant given removable SD card access. USB speed wasn't a limitation for my notions thought it irrelevant. SD card removal would require...

Borrow Apple Adjustable Keyboard Wrist Rests

Nice day job, hoping to play with 3D modeling in about 22 months when I retire. Had a notion for scanning contour gauge settings made in steps using my cross slide milling vise. So of course that led to thoughts of a digital version. just searched and found this...

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

Yeah, your custom hat is a great suggestion, but the BlueBird Module moniker wouldn't fit, LOL! I'd considered RaSCSI, but with AAUI on board my thinking was that adaptation from that starting point would be considerably faster? The Blackbird's expansion bay is located in front the chassis...

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

Wasn't talking about or critical of your connector choice at all, slip-in is just fine for standard use. (y) Pucker factor for an SD card sticking out the side of a Blackbird is something else entirely! I have a slip-in socket on my current Notebook with a goodly portion of the card poking out...

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

The module will need to be stationary, installed before reassembling the base unit which is held in place by strategically located nubbins. I cut the opening for the battery contacts only because the bend line of the mockup at that point was too deep in the well. Design should clear the battery...

Radius Two Page Display for Mac SE

I thought I'd hooked mine up to the BNC inputs of my 21" PrecisionColor workhorse from the day, but didn't see that mentioned in my MLA posts. I probably wouldn't have as that's the IIfx Display. Give it a try, if it's a very wide ranging multisync it might work?

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

@This Does Not Compute thanks for that link. I guess we'd need to add the nubbins I've indicated to hold the assembly in place. Development of the kissy-lipped cover plate should be fun for somebody? Dunno anything about BlueSCSI really, would adding a teensy USB port to the custom board so a...

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

Thanks, glad to hear I'm not totally off my rocker ATM. I've always thought about that, but bought one and don't much care for it. I've heard they're not all that reliable and the card only slips into it. My notion would be to use a real SD socket with push-to-click-ejection of the SD card so...

BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

Came up with this one while not quite awake this morning and spent the rest of wakeup, morning musings over coffee thinking about it. So of course I spent my afternoon in paper/cardboard cutout mockup play. I've been told few can parse my .TXT descriptions, so was this a waste of time...
