AFAIK there are not modern replacements available for purchase (someone please correct me if there's a source I'm not aware of). You could try to rebuild it yourself with replacement cells, but that is a 'project'.

I'd agree with that, since there is no other damage inside the drive. Also seems to be consistent with the current (dead) state of the unit. New drive has been ordered so hopefully problem solved...
