What capacitors for 1.44MB floppy recap?

I received an email today from Mouser that three of the caps on the list you just updated are now EOL. They are still currently available, so people should stock up !

Texas Instruments discontinuing a lot of IC's

Does your SE reloaded build not require UC12/UB12 ? I don't see any mention of those chips - the SN75175 chips brought up in the first post of this thread. Thanks!

Texas Instruments discontinuing a lot of IC's

@Kai Robinson I came across this thread while looking for replacement SN75175 for my SE/30 Reading the data sheet, it looks like SN75175DR is the same chip, only packaged in tape & reel? It looks like only the tube packaged part was made obsolete. Am I wrong? This is only the 2nd time I've...

    SE/30 Reloaded - Complete!

@craig I am also curious where you got the Saronix 33.342 MHz oscillator - I can't find an equivalent part in that kind of through-hole package to repair an SE/30. Thanks!

What capacitors for 1.44MB floppy recap?

I have a few 1.44MB floppy drives (all from SE/30s) that I would like to recap. I noticed the video from @JDW about this subject, but in the linked cart one of the capacitors is discontinued. I'm unsure what to replace it with that has a similar footprint/values/etc - anyone have an updated...

    Restoration Service?

There are other methods, like using this utility to copy files from the sd card onto the hard drive image itself: https://bluescsi.com/docs/Toolbox#utilities I'm not sure what version of the bluescsi that is? I'm not a bluescsi expert. I"ve not seen one with that square cutout in the PCB...

    Restoration Service?

There are also various facebook for sale groups, I saw this post just today but its local pickup only in Minneapolis. I've acquired three SE/30s off of facebook marketplace within <1 hour drive of my house.

The BlueSCSI Project: Replacing My Dead Quantum ProDrive

I revived another drive recently (also Quantum SCSI from a mac, but a ProDrive LPS) that wouldn't spin after just gently moving the platters and heads myself which got things unstuck. But I did so connected to a bluescsi in initiator mode so I could immediately image the drive.

The BlueSCSI Project: Replacing My Dead Quantum ProDrive

I had the same model ProDrive on my SE/30 and it suddenly came to life when I placed the drive on its side. I wrote about my successful efforts on this other forum, with the help of a BlueSCSI v2 in Initiator mode in order to make an image of the old drive...

The BlueSCSI Project: Replacing My Dead Quantum ProDrive

I am a classic mac newb, but I do know the Floppy Emu can emulate an "HD20" device - a hard drive apple made that connected to the external floppy port. But wikipedia says this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_Disk_20 So maybe your IIx doesn't even have HD20 support in its ROM? I bought a...

    Mac SE/30 Peeker Diagnostic Kit

I stumbled across this item for sale that looked interesting - can't find any mention of it in the usual forums or facebook groups: https://jcm-1.com/product/macse30-peeker-v4-5/ Both of my SE/30s work, but I kinda want one just to be mesmerized by the blinkenlights! I like the ground...

Harmful to run SE/30 temporarily without recapping?

I noticed in @GutBomb's latest video, he mentions powering up an LC II after removing all surface mount electrolytic capacitors: link should go right to that point of the video

How to mount DSK images on real hardware? System 7.0.1

Hello! How do you mount DSK images on real hardware? I transfer them via BlueSCSI Transfer Utility onto my mac. I am running System 7.0.1 on an SE/30. I never used a classic mac back in the day so this is all new to me. The BlueSCSI Bootstrap disk image has some utilities in the Stuff ->...

Is COMPUTE!'s Gazette really being revived ?

I've looked at those, but I feel like they are too game centric. I want to know about new hardware (there is always some new Commodore hardware) and utilities and such without having to resort to Facebook groups. Juiced.GS seems to cover everything going on in the apple II scene not just...

    SE/30 Reloaded and alive

Can I ask what part number you used for C6 (50V 1uF) and where you ordered it from? I have tried ordering polymer tantalum cap for C6 from mouser and twice now they’ve sent the wrong part. This is what I am ordering...
