    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

Seriously? “Here’s a free system extension that makes your Mac 475 faster. Want to try it out?” -“No thanks, I’m good…” Said nobody, ever… How is it that you haven’t found testers for it???

Archiving CD images using Toast 3 (1997)

There is also a tool made by Astarte called CD-Copy. Its purpose is to extract 100% the contents of a CD, including any hidden data. Use that to make an image rather than Toast, if you're doing this on a 68K Mac...

Did anyone else visualize and hear the "TDNC" intro music and Colin's voice throughout the whole saga, or was that just me? Seriously, though, I agree that a video would be great.

Customizing the Apple Legacy Recovery CD for various Macs 🛠️ ⚙️ 💾 💿

Tip: Mac OS 7.5.5 is one of the best for cross compatibility from oldest to most PowerPC Macs (pre-G3). It runs from Macintosh Plus through the 9600 and everything inbetween.

Archiving best practices and breaking the Seal?

Tehcnically speaking, the DiskCopy type images should be uploadable without any .bin, .hqx, or .sit of the file. However, when a user downloads just a raw .img file, the file type/creator is lost, and perhaps some other manipulation is done to the file inbetween. I like y our idea of making a...

    If using only 4x 16MB SIMMs, install any capacity SIMMs in bank A and your 4x 16MB SIMMs in Bank B. 4x 256Kb in A, giving 65MB, or 4x 1MB for 68MB or 4x 4MB for 80MB

Archiving best practices and breaking the Seal?

I stand corrected! Were each file of a different size (to prove it's using the different versions to actually compress them)? From what I understand, the DropStuff relies upon the Stuffit Engine in the Extensions folder, and regardless of the version of DropStuff, it will utilize whatever...

Archiving best practices and breaking the Seal?

I believe this is only true with files archived using StuffIt version 5.0 and above. Files compressed with prior versions of StuffIt will corrupt when transferred to a non Mac-HFS system.

    SE/30 RAM Banking QUESTION

You do realize that when using 16MB SIMMs in the SE/30, you have to populate all 8 slots, right? If you only have 4x 16MB SIMMs, populate the other 4 slots with any 4 matching SIMMs. It's an SE/30 quirk.

BlueSCSI SD Transfer Utility - Alpha Testers Wanted!

Just curious… I had thought .sit files are dual-fork and downloading them on a Windows machine corrupts them. I remember back in the day you had to .sit and then .hqx a file to upload it. Same with Apple DiskCopy images. Apparently they are corrupted when transferred to and from a Windows...

I Have Some Questions About The iivi, iivx, and 600 Family, Plus My iivi Journey.

The IIvi logic board is identical to the IIvx and P600. Only difference is cache and the speed of CPU dropped in (and oscillator). Otherwise, 100% identical.

Badly distorted CD audio on Quadra 650/800

The test allows you to verify that the Mac reads audio from the CD just fine and plays it back to you through the same speakers, just digitally. If you have no issues, it’s your analog cable /connector (or the drive needs a recap).
