Now that the film is now available for streaming on home video and soon to be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and awesomely, on VHS in a 4:3 format.
So, for those of you that have watched it - what did you think of it?
I went to see this in the cinema with two friends and it was AWESOME. Honestly a first class movie experience. Most things I've been to see are either 'OK or 'oh that's fun' but this was EPIC.
For me, the set design was just fantastic. The audio design, the little cues and callbacks everywhere you look, to the first movie - I absolutely loved the whole thing from beginning to end.
The direction and story were top-notch, some bits maybe a little contrived/convenient but willing to overlook it for the sake of the overall picture. Fede Alvarez has done a magnificent job and it's clear that this was made by someone who not only respects the first two films but respects the source material and the world building that was already done, rather than jon spaiht's abortion that was the prometheus blunder trying to make something entirely new.
Also, i have to single out David Jonsson's performance as 'Andy' - just...*chefs kiss* top notch. I'm so glad that the film has been a critical and commercial success and that a sequel is already greenlit and on the way. Oooh - and they just released a one-shot graphic novel to reveal what happened between the opening scene and the crew of the Corbelan setting foot on the station!
