Hi,
Please allow me to do a bit of self-promotion here for some programs I’ve been developing recently. It’s an experiment to help MacOS 9 connect with the modern internet environment, building on the hard work of those who came before me.
First of all, because MacOS 9 does not have a modern crypto library, it cannot connect to modern TLS services. I referred to the mbedTLS OS9 port and created a library called ClassicNet that supports HTTP/2.
OS9Map uses this library to allow Macs to connect to OpenStreetMap, as well as search for addresses and POIs.
The next step is unicode. Unicode on OS9 is not well supported. To render a big part of Internet, I created ClassicText for emoji.
PlatinumSky is the OS9 app for BlueSky, and
Palaeomastodon is the OS9 app for Mastodon.
Not really helpful for productivity, but it feels nice to connect the old MacOS 9 to the modern internet!
