Macintosh connector part numbers

Bit of a frustrating one this - i'm looking for the part number of the ZIF socket used in the G3 and G4 Yikes models. I know its PGA-288 but they seem to just not exist! The one i have is an AMP branded one - i just snapped the heatsink mount off it

Sure it's an AMP 916668-4 or 916668-1

Now, can we find a pin header for the 288 pin PGA socket? There's folks who would probably make one for us, but I bet they'd want a huge quantity.

The header is going to be weird. Not pin to pin in a matrix, like a normal header. But pin to balls on some sort of surface mount BGA surface or pins with flat heads that get soldered to a BGA array.

For making ZIF cards in case it wasn't clear...

According to the PDF the pin spacing on the CPU is standard 2.54mm/0.1"

so if you were so inclined you could just solder a bunch of these and make you're own socket:

Can confirm - just plopped a DIP20 socket into the ZIF just fine.

Hmmmm. If I got a 17X17 socket, poked all the pins out, and replaced them with those DH2-?pins, that would pretty much make a ZIF header. I guess. One of these days I'm going to dissect an old 233MHz PPC750 ZIF and see what the interface between the PCB and the header looks like.

Have a look at the datasheet: https://www.mouser.co.uk/datasheet/2/123/3/English_302_Ordering_Guide-2301523.pdf pinout is identical.

I confirm that this one is working. Used it in a x100 PDS riser.

Any luck with that one? (I'm almost ready to send the IIcx boards to JLC and might have mangled the old socket getting it out to board....)

I just received them, but didn't use them for now. They look high quality, gold plated inside the pin sockets as well.

They may be a little on the expensive side, but getting brand new manufactured 68030 sockets is kinda nice. Even if they are out of stock, Mouser will ask Aries to build them in around 6 weeks (which they did for me)

Any idea if you can get a new edge connector for the Color Classic / Performa 575 logic board? I got aboard from a non-working Color Classic only to find it was due to a broken pin, I was able to solder a little bit of metal to replace it. And the machine worked, but it looks terrible and I'm worried about the durability of that replaced pin with being plugged and unplugged as I remove and reinsert the board. I'm guessing it's proprietary and I can only get one from an existing board, but figured I'd ask.

Does cables have a place in this thread ?

PCL-10120-1E from Advantech works as a floppy cable replacement. Available from Mouser, Farnell and a few others. Useful to avoid dodgy cables from eBay.
Also work for Floppy Emu
