Making a DB19 from a DB25

Since DB19 are difficult and expensive to come by these days I waned to see if I could make one out of a DB25 I had laying around.

Step 1: Cut off 6 pins to make it a 19

Step 2: Cut the shroud and top pins off

Step 3: May as well match the hole up even if we won't be using it.

Step 4 check fit... Too wide. We'll have to chop off some of the back shroud too. This affects the strength of the shroud so I added some solder to help hold it together. I'll also add some super glue to hold the plastic and shroud together.

Step 6 final fit test.

This is a good enough solution for your own personal use but quite a hack job indeed.

You can buy DB19 on eBay or a A2Heaven has a PCB that mimics the pin out. But the DIYer in you may want to try this if you have a few spare connectors laying around.

I'll be using this to connect a SmartPortSD.

This reminded me of something I had tucked away. Was attached to a IIc I bought years ago.
