    Modifications to 128k logic board

It's more of a ticking sound than the flup sound which I had, I think, on a Mac Plus with the fuse in the cable issue that you documented on one of your videos. I do have the caps for the analog board, which I planned to replace anyway. Just been busy with some other projects, but I'll...

Need solution for HDI-45 to DB-15 connectors for video out

No real objection, other than making sure people that are willing / want to go to the effort to make on their own can still do so. Honestly, you've been so helpful with the Apple /// stuff I've gotten from you, we could probably work out an arrangement, especially if you'd consider maybe...

Need solution for HDI-45 to DB-15 connectors for video out

OK, just returned from a work trip and had a nice little present waiting for me when I got back. Lots of PCBs! I wanted to make sure the diode worked and the rest of the PCB design was functional, so I soldered the 2.0mm spaced pins, added the diode, then added the HD-15 connector. Used...

    External case for ESProfile

I prefer my helper devices to be covered, and recently learned how easy it is to make basic things in TinkerCad. I recently ordered a set of ESProfiles (internal and external), and while the internal is perfect for my needs, I decided I wanted a case for the external one. So I made the...

SCSI graphics card, via Raspberry Pi HDMI

I think that may be why he mentioned v3. v1 used BluePill, v2 used the Pico, could v3 use something like the PiZero and offer video output while still keeping the costs down? Of course, I know nothing about the challenges of porting software written to run on the Pico over to a the Zero, so...

    ProFile Drive Emulator for Lisa?

@Zhinü I got the components to make the cable. However, I have a Lisa 2/10 which doesn't have a built in parallel port. It does have a Parallel power card, but I've never used it. I did try to use the external version with the cable I created, and I was able to get the selector to show up and...

    Managing your collections

I really like this idea. I've never seen that document, but I might go through an capture individual images for each of the line art machines along with the ports. Then tie them to the machines in the system. Only 16 pages of ports and images to process! And unfortunately it looks like it...

    Managing your collections

I have an accessories category, but the database makes it easy to add a new category for cables. Unfortunately, it would include a lot of information likely irrelevant for cables (last power on date, manufacturer part number, etc). I don’t even have all my keyboards and mice cataloged because...

    Managing your collections

That’s what I’ve built. Without login, others can view a subset of the information. After logging in, you can add/edit devices, add/remove images and comments, etc. but to do that you need a server in the middle to manage the authn/authz needs. So I built the API server layer.

    Managing your collections

I will say, I have used AI models for trying to generate images and icons of vintage Macs and it has not gone well. If you find one that does it well, let me know.

    Managing your collections

I considered the simplicity of a static web site. It has a lot of of advantages - less complexity, simpler set up and maintenance, ability to access on older machines for consumption. It does offer limitations that I personally didn’t want to have - inability to dynamically create entries...

    Managing your collections

OK, if I have time over the next couple of weeks, I may go back and look into how easily I could package it all up. I think I wasn't sure how to setup the initial database tables in docker, so I'd need to figure that out. Also, how to parameterize some of the stuff, like the database...

    Managing your collections

I'll have to look at how easy it would be to package it up for someone else to use. Do you have a device that can run docker containers?

And black keyboard. Also hard to find. Sucks about the logic board, but there are some good alternatives that just lose you the tuner capabilities

    Modifications to 128k logic board

Seems like the logic board is good. Threw it in my 512k and plugged in FloppyEMU and it booted fine. As expected, it is showing 512k memory. If I undo the mods, will it go back to 128k memory even though the bigger chips have been installed in the sockets for the memory? Or will the larger...

    Modifications to 128k logic board

After looking over the analog board and the logic board, nothing looked bad so I tried to power it on. Unfortunately, the PSU clicks. I assume like new machines that implied maybe something on the logic board is shorting? I believe I have an analog board recap kit for the 128k/512k. I...

    Modifications to 128k logic board

OK, I did a little more googling and it looks like this is what was considered a FatMac upgrade? https://ameblo.jp/keroxiee1016/entry-12803881976.html Fortunately, all the RAM chips appear to be socketed, so I could go back to 128k, is I can get 16 working chips. Given the rarity of stock...

    Modifications to 128k logic board

So, despite my temporary pause on acquiring new machines because of the massive pile of filthy macs in my workshop, what appeared to be a Mac 128k popped up on FB marketplace and I decided to pull the trigger since the price was good. However, since I don’t think you can actually tell in...

Massive (filthy) find in South Carolina

So, while waiting on my PCBs for my HDI-45 adapters, I loved onto the next batch that seemed to be in decent shape, a pair of IIci and a pair of IIcx machines. Unfortunately, one of the Iicx machines was battery bombed, so I'll have to see what I can salvage from it (I've already pulled the...
