Installing Mac OS X Leopard on the Apple TV (1st generation)

The built-in wifi card does not support BlueTooth. You could either use a USB dongle, or replace the mPCIE card with something newer that 10.5.8 still supports (but I can't confirm one exists that is supported under 10.5.x or the 10.6.x hack).

Installing Mac OS X Leopard on the Apple TV (1st generation)

I don't think so. Per the instructions, when you change the drive partition type to make it bootable by the AppleTV, the mac will no longer recognize the partition. "Making the USB drive bootable Now, we need to change the partition type so that the USB drive is bootable on the Apple TV. Once...

Installing Mac OS X Leopard on the Apple TV (1st generation)

I believe that is the unique UUID that the AppleTV rom is looking for to boot from. If that does not exist, it can't boot. You are essentially rewriting the partition table to make MacOS look like the AppleTV boot partition with the appropriate UUID.

Pair of PowerBook 3400c from Craigslist

Pulled the PRAM batteries, no signs of leakage, but both had a pin that turned green with corrosion at the extender cable. Both batteries have been charging overnight and appear to be dead (will keep the computer on for a moment, I have not done a full runtime assessment). In the interest of...

Senior crew, can you identify this tool?

There are 3x 7400 (4ch NAND) and 2x 7486 (4ch XOR) on the board. Maybe from the 60s or 70s? DEC or other 8bit CPU era?

Pair of PowerBook 3400c from Craigslist

This morning I picked up a pair of PowerBook 3400c from the original owner ($175 for both). They appear quite clean. I removed the rechargeable battery and plugged in power. Both chime and start to boot. One has some hard drive clunking and then Norton Disk Doctor launches and tries to...

Back of the board is nothing special.

Senior crew, can you identify this tool?

I stopped by the Free Geek Minneapolis today, and over on the free shelf was a strange looking box. Reminded me of the programming panel I built as part of the "How to build your own self programming robot" that I never completed. Guessing the DB0-7 are data bits. ISA board tester or primitive...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

Refer back to post #78 to see how I twisted the power cable 180 for the SSD adapter. Not wanting to pull it out right now, so this is the best shot I have, but looks like your #4+7+9 (power cable upside down). Looks like I used #10 for the optical drive plus an additional cable to convert the...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

I think there is something funky with the Cube DVDs, because as soon as I removed it and replaced it with another apple slot load (slim drive), the master slave issues went away for me.

Can We Crowd Source 2D/3D Models of the InWin A500 I/O Shields?

I can help model and test print something. I have no InWin devices, so yes, photos and dimensions would be required.

DIY Desktop Video Microscope for Micro Soldering

The thing is that I had all these random parts laying around from other projects, life, and hobbies... It would probably be cheaper to just buy the outright scope and be done with it. This was a learning experience, and a way to repurpose some things I had on hand without money out of pocket...
