DIY Desktop Video Microscope for Micro Soldering

Part 3: Just to show the original Belows with the Canon connectors I removed: I finished the 3D mount with a nice tri-wing knob on it so I can move it up and down the chemistry stand much easier. Then I soldered in the light ring. Rather than go all out, I decided to have three options...

DIY Desktop Video Microscope for Micro Soldering

Part 2: The cone attachment and the lo-res telescope camera have some room for adjustment. By moving the camera closer to the lens, you adjust the focus and zoom. With the 1080p camera, I had to disassemble everything and remove the built-in lens. I abandoned the cone idea, and decided to...

DIY Desktop Video Microscope for Micro Soldering

I don't know the limit of photo attachments, so I will make this post multi-part. Part 1: After seeing some of the amazing repair work that people do on YouTube, I have been wanting to get a digital microscope. Trying to get by with these things is just not making the cut anymore. I have a...

iMac G4 with a red tinted screen please help!

Sorry, but I think you will have to disassemble it again. Was it fine before you cleaned it? Does it change when you move the arm/screen around (swivel and tilt)? First guess is that the video cable is not secured in all the way to the connector, or a pin got loose in the connector, or maybe...

Apple Pro Speaker Grille - print your own

This weekend I printed a couple other mediums. Original Cube Amplified, PETG Clear, PLA white Strawberry Bondi Blue Of course the Cube speakers need new diaphragms. I already have the replacements in hand, waiting for that 2024 PowerPC Challenge to do the repair.

Apple Pro Speaker Grille - print your own

I have 6 sets of Apple Pro Speakers and finally acquired a set of G4 Cube pro speakers, with the USB amp and speaker grilles. So I measured and modeled, then printed my own. Of course you can print in any color or media you like or have on hand, I don't think you will get close to transparent...

Query: G5 iMac & Their Troublesome Power Supplies

I recapped my G5 iMac in 2005, it was pretty easy to see all the caps that were swollen. I believe there were some on the motherboard as well as the PSU. I don't think Console5 has any recap kits for G5 iMac, so you would have to find appropriate caps elsewhere... you may be able to get by...

Query: Who Here Has Used DaVinci?

I did linear video editing for years in the late 1990s before everything went digital. I have used iMovie and Adobe Premiere in the past as well. I downloaded DaVinci Resolve earlier this year to do some image stabilization on a video clip. I went to the Total Solar Eclipse but did not have a...

Help with ATA-based DVD drive locking up 2008 Mac Pro while trying to burn.

Forget about using SATA/IDE adapters if your drives are already SATA. There should be two extra SATA ports on the motherboard. Check my thread here for some pics of a MacPro3,1 about adding two SATA drives in the optical area. See these two ports with the red and orange cables?

Is it possible to somehow install a floppy drive inside a powermac g4 quicksilver?

Works on OSX, not on OS9. Tried both versions of USB floppy drives I have, neither works on os9. But, success for mounting a 3.5 floppy 1.44MB internal on a QuickSilver machine!!! No floppy in drive: Floppy reading: From my Mavica Floppy camera 1.44MB disk: In OSX 10.4.11

Is it possible to somehow install a floppy drive inside a powermac g4 quicksilver?

Here is my 3D bezel for a USB-floppy. STL files linked here I am not sure if a standard 3.5 floppy will fit in the small hole available with the eject button being so far from the slot. Remove the blank bezel and see how narrow the slot is. Here is the USB faceplate snapped in, with disk...

Is it possible to somehow install a floppy drive inside a powermac g4 quicksilver?

I adjusted the height of the USB floppy with a 3D printed bracket, so I have the correct height, but I need to bring it forward so the manual eject button protrudes enough to eject a disk.

Is it possible to somehow install a floppy drive inside a powermac g4 quicksilver?

Those don't look like USB floppy drives, those look like standard half-hight internal drives. As I said before, there is no controller/adapter for these types of drives. I was under the assumption you would use your USB floppy in the drive bay and connect to the internal USB port on your PCI...

Is it possible to somehow install a floppy drive inside a powermac g4 quicksilver?

I disassembled an IOMega drive, and mounted in the default holes in the 3.5" bay under the optical. The drive is about 0.25" smaller than the width of the 3.5 bay. And its much lower than a typical drive (slimline). So, an adapter will have to be created to mount it higher.

Is it possible to somehow install a floppy drive inside a powermac g4 quicksilver?

Attach some photos of your floppy, maybe I can design one. I have IOmega 31062400 and SmartDisk FDUSB-M models that I can compare to.

Is it possible to somehow install a floppy drive inside a powermac g4 quicksilver?

You do not have to flash a floppy drive. They are mechanically made to read and write certain formats/densities. It varies greatly. I don't know if an IDE to Floppy controller exists, because old computers came with separate controllers, one for floppy and one for IDE. The very easiest...

Is it possible to somehow install a floppy drive inside a powermac g4 quicksilver?

Possible... maybe... I am not guaranteeing these exact pieces are compatible, but likely are. Find a ZIP faceplate and mount for a quicksilver, then find an internal LS-120 Super disk, then find an ATAPI to IDE adapter. Then you should be able to mount it under the optical drive and connect...

Is it possible to somehow install a floppy drive inside a powermac g4 quicksilver?

USB external 1.44MB, but if you are trying to use 400/800K, probably not.
