    Hot Sauce fiends?

Mmmm I like hot sauces. Our fridge staples include sriracha & Chile garlic paste for Asian fare, Cholula & Tapatio for eggs & Latin/Mexican fare, Tobasco, Texas Pete’s & Franks for fried chicken/catfish or eggs/biscuits n gravy & Trappeys for burgers, hotdogs, grinders/hot Italian sammies -...

    Confit Garlic

Very nice - Two fantastic products. My typical application of confit is after the cooking process is completed, I whirl the butter/oil/garlic confit in a blender (while still warm) and emulsify. I then pour the mixture into a tub and that goes into the fridge to chill. The end result is a...

    Confit Garlic

I absolutely love garlic confit - so good and a fridge staple in my house. I usually go for equal parts butter and any neutral mono unsaturated oil I have around. I have never made it with smoked salt (which I have alot of) though. Will have to give that a go - sounds dee-lish.

PowerMac G5 boot chime but no video out

Its not bad to take those apart, clean, repaste and reassemble. I'd say a 20-30 minute job between the two with the right tools. It's a big PITA if you dont have drivers long enough though. I wonder if you turn the case on its side so the weight of the heat sinks (and gravity) are pushing down...

PowerMac G5 boot chime but no video out

You could try and boot into Apple system diagnostics ASD 2.5.7 https://www.macintoshrepository.org/28403-all-apple-hardware-test-aht-apple-service-diagnostic-asd-disks See what the diagnostic results say. Also, did you try and boot into verbose mode? Seeing where in the boot cycle the machine...

PowerMac G5 boot chime but no video out

Hmm, so the dualCPU 2.5ghz a1047 is the 97fx processor and has PCIx. The A1117 Quad core 2.5ghz has 970MP processor and has PCIe. First things first, did you try the dead card that it came with in another machine to see if it is in fact dead? Obvious things Id do is visually inspect the video...

    Fan Replacements

Here's a graph for those like me who prefer visual, tactile learning. You can see that with a very high static pressure of 200pa, airflow is very low around 4 cfm. Conversely, a really low static pressure of say 50pa at 50hz, has a comparatively very high airflow at around 18cfm. This shows how...

    Fan Replacements

The way I understand it is when Static Pressure increases, air flow decreases and vice versa - think of a computer case and a straight open path for air to flow right through it (this is your positive static pressure), then stick a bunch of hot componentry like cpu heat sinks, PSUs, pci cards...

    Picasso Dealer Sign: LED replacement?

When I upgraded to LED bulbs in my light fixtures through the house, the dimmable units (dining room, downstairs family room, master bath etc.) hummed at 120hz badly. It was very annoying - drove me crazy. To fix that, I installed Lutron LED dimmers Lutron LED dimmer at the wall switch that...

    Power Macintosh G4 - 733

Sounds pretty awesome. Did you refit the 7450swith the 7455's? How painful if at all was that? MO? very cool - Ive never seen a MagnetoOptical drive in the wild before. Are they plug n play in a PMG4 or do you need a driver? Pictures of it wasn't built! :D

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

SSDs and cubes remind me of the old (yet very, very true) saying - It doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to work. The solution above is what I use in one of my MDDs. With adapter, you're looking at 5x3.25 inches all in, so 12.7 x 8.255 centimeters - cube owners can measure the drive space...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

In regards to the pata/sata adapter, look for the Marvell 88SA8052 chipset. These work well in macs & are commonly found with red PCBs (although I do have a no name in green). You see them sold under StarTech, Manhattan, etc.

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

Well, the adapter is going through the ATA-5 bus so has a max speed of 66MBps. Still, a modern SSD is going to crush a spinner at small file writes (especially the 5400rpm 20 & 40gb era Apple hdds) and as such should yield a noticeable improvement in boot up, app start up etc. Even without TRIM...

    2008 iMac 24” Restoration Journey

Hmm, I typically use disk utility & format a 8gb + flash drive to GUID, then copy over the dmg you want to install. Reboot-option and select the flashdrive via boot selector and install. IIRC max macOS for 2008 imac is El Cap 10.11 64bit but if you want to beyond that, you can use a patcher...
