They are & work so well in PowerBooks. I have an Acard pci sata card that I use for os9 (currently not in a box) & a couple flashed sil3512 pci cards for OSX in my g4 powermacs. I agree they do make a difference vs slapping on a pata/Sata adapter & calling it a day but hey, no shame in that...

The plastics were intact and fine - the alloy behind them is what snapped on my 17". They are very fragile - I think because they were designed too small outright. A higher mass hinge while heavier would have worn better.

Ahh man that is a drag. Could it be the version of software? Maybe try the earlier 2.5.7 (I think thats right lol) or a later revision? Its worth a shot.

The alloy used in these ADC acrylic cinema displays stinks. I seriously think the plastic is stronger than the alloy used (in the amounts it was used).

well, lots of pmg5 owners use the software and if you replaced the fan, that rules those bits out as likely points of failure which leaves the thermal sensor. I’d unplug the thing, reboot and see if mach10 mega fan speed goes away.

I wonder if the thermal sensor in those areas is failing. Unplug it & recalibrate - see if the fan behaves.

I have a number of 23” adc but luckily no hinge issues. I did inherit a 17” with snapped hinge. My fix was $1 worth of epoxy injected into the break area & cured. It holds it weight fine but I doubt I’d be able to get it back apart now. 🙂

That’s not cheating, that’s just having an awesome powermac. I have a DC 2ghz a1117 & it is quite snappy. I can only imagine a quad. You should buy your brother some beers for the gift. 🙂

Very nice. I am using it on my 1.33ghz ibook g4 and I think it is a bit snappier than DiscordPPC1.3. Looking at Activity monitor, it definitely enjoys munching on the single cpu (evidenced by text/typing lag), but I bet will be very nice on my multi-cpu/core PowerPC powermacs. I realize reading...

I have had no issues with photos in DiscordPPC. For emoji support, you need to copy the 2 fonts symbola.ttf and symbola_hint.ttf to /Library/Fonts - although I did notice that recently with v1.3 that while the blue ?'s are gone, emojis are empty despite dropping the symbola files where it needs...
