"Platinum" PLA for Macs and Apple ][s

I should have the ColorFabb Filament on the way, as well as the Amazon Basics Light Gray. I will print two backplates for my Color Classic (Mystic) and show what they look like side by side with the CC.

New G4 Cube picked up as part of package deal with Studio CRT (ADC)

Found a listing for a cube and studio CRT ADC and the owner wouldn’t split them apart. I already have a working Cube but always wanted the CRT to go with it. Bit the bullet and bought the bundle, figuring i could sell the cube myself and it’d basically be like I just bought the monitor. Went to...

    Color Classic CRT geometry adjustment

I can't remember if there was much play in the mounting screws that hold the CRT to the front frame, but if possible, you could loosen the 4 corner screws and try to shift it in that direction a bit. Quite a bit safer than messing with the yoke (both to you and the glass nipple).

LCD casing for Apple IIc / IIc Plus

Step 1. I’ve confirmed I can pull 12v, ground, and the composit video out from the pins on the DB-15 connector. For those wondering, pin 8 is 12v, pin 12 is the composite video signal, and pin 13 is ground. Worked great with my existing screen and controller. The video is somewhat small on the...

Sluggish CD eject on iMac G3 (slot loaded)

I've heard boiling the belt can help with the belt. But to be clear, my belt appeared fine and was not slipping, so I left it alone. For me, it was the rubber roller on the rod slipping even when I could see the wheel attached to the belt was spinning appropriately. And boiling may work on...

Sluggish CD eject on iMac G3 (slot loaded)

Not sure if the mechanism is similar to that on the slot loaded powerbooks, but I believe on mine, it was a problem that the rubber sleeve on the roller for ejecting the CD was slipping on the metal rod it was installed on. I believe you can fix it by removing it and boiling it to shrink it...

LCD casing for Apple IIc / IIc Plus

I have an IIc and IIc Plus. I've seen @Javmast3r's video changing the B&W LCD from the original LCD kit for the IIc. However, those are in short supply and are getting expensive. iPad LCDs with control boards are cheap and relatively decent quality (e.g...

Using the Sun to restore a yellow Macintosh ☀️

My problem with submersion is the amount of peroxide wasted. I've been on the same bottle of 40vol creme and have done probably a dozen cases (from a 512k to a 5400 to a 6100. I also worry about floating. I need to find a good method for keyboards / keys. keyboard cases are good, and...

Using the Sun to restore a yellow Macintosh ☀️

Out of curiousity, when you got marbling, were you doing the plastic wrap method in the sun? Or the same, controlled LED panels?

"Platinum" PLA for Macs and Apple ][s

OK, sign me up for a spool. It's a lot, but I want to make this happen, and I'll be willing to print parts for others with the spool when I get it.

Using the Sun to restore a yellow Macintosh ☀️

I guess when I hear someone say "never, ever, ever do" something, it makes me believe there is a flaw in the method and a high chance of failure, even when following the steps correctly. However, when you explain the perceived risk, it sounds like what you are saying is there is a risk that can...

"Platinum" PLA for Macs and Apple ][s

I'm in for a spool if it's reasonable total cost. How much is the base spool cost? So cost would be spool cost + (total shipping to US / number of people buying) + shipping from US location to individual?

Using the Sun to restore a yellow Macintosh ☀️

Out of curiosity, what is the concern with plastic wrap? I've had more problems with the creme drying on devices during the process without a wrap than using the wrap method. Other than doing it wrong (i.e. having air pockets or not wrapping completely), what is the risk of plastic wrap to...

M0110 keyboard no input on 512k

I had also tested the continuity of the cable, and from the contacts in the connection in the female jack to the boards and it seemed fine. I also tried to push back the wires inside the female jack to their original position (some of them had been pushed down and were siting further back than...

Using the Sun to restore a yellow Macintosh ☀️

Basically, I just took an old storage bin my son had used for hydro-dipping (hence it looks terrible from the outside), lined the inside of the bin and the lid with heavy duty aluminum foil and reflective foil tape, the got a 50 foot spool of LEDs...

Using the Sun to restore a yellow Macintosh ☀️

Yeah, I recently switched from using the sun to building a UV box where I have much better control over everything. I've had a few splotchy results because I think I left it too long in the hot sunlight and the peroxide dried or there were air bubbles formed under the plastic wrap. Since...

Found DOS card in a boxed 6115 CD

So, I was able to find enough functioning floppies from my box of estate sale bargain bin floppies to cover the 3 disks needed for DOS 6.2.2, one for the Apple utilities, and 6 for Windows 3.1, and now I officially have a working dual boot System 8 / Win 3.1 machine! Pics of the floppy...

Found DOS card in a boxed 6115 CD

Progress update! I removed the CPU, took off the heat sink, applied new thermal compound, and reseated the CPU (it was properly aligned when I removed it, and appeared to be fully seated). Tried one more time to boot and IT WORKED! I get video out. I was able to create a DOS boot disk from...

Found DOS card in a boxed 6115 CD

Sadly, no. I'm in the Charlotte, NC area. I'll check around locally and see if I can find one. When I looked, the CPU seemed seated properly, but I might try to pop it out and re-seat it. Really appreciate all the advice!
