Sadly, I don't own any of those models, and because of that, I have no answers to your important questions.
My concern would be that if HUMIDITY was the root problem, the tunnel vision would come back over time because you wouldn't leave it in a sealed container with desiccants all the time...
Oh, so you're not on US 120VAC power then. I was thinking you were. 220VAC means your Mac's Analog board is an International Version. And it means your Hyperdrive's PSU would need to be made for that power level too, unless it can accommodate 120VAC or 220VAC. But I would assume the PSU...
OK thanks. It's easier to ponder on B&W CRTs like the SE/30. And when you crank up the brightness on the Analog Board too high, you can actually see odd bits of light in the otherwise black border surrounding the display area. Then you know you need to back down the brightness at the Analog...
I didn't mention Juicy Crumb as the third buying option only because when I used a VPN based in the US to see the price for US buyers (which I have to do because I live in Japan, and that site forces you to see fixed prices based on your location, with no option for the visitor to switch price...
This is my upscaled and reimagined Macworld magazine Premier issue Cover. I started with the highest resolution image I could find, then I upscaled that, edited the text, the removed all text that covered the table area where the Macs are sitting. I did this for a recent video and it came out...
In a recent video, I needed a good quality Macintosh II photo, so I upscale and hand-tweaked the best photo I could find on the net, and these two photos were the result. One photo is just of the Mac II only, with replacement graphics on the CRT added by me. The second is the same photo but...
I made this upscale of the magazine cover using cleanest and largest image I could find on the net, hoping to use my upscaled edition in a recent video, but I never did. Spent so much time on it I decided to upload it here as a Resource. However, if any of you own a real copy of that magazine...
Just finished installing the LCD Retrofit Kit by @zigzagjoe and I'm excited to report it brings tack-sharp 640x480 INTERNAL color to your SE/30. Not an IPS display, but viewing angles are just as good. Brightness is a shocking 900nits. Best part is, your SE/30 remains a vintage Mac. (Not a Mac...
Wow.
So, just to bring the average reader of this thread "up to speed" (he he)...
As per what is written here, those super fast transfer rates reported by @Androda require a "SCSI card that supports Ultra SCSI (Fast20)." That means we can't just flash our BSv2 units with the latest firmware...
@Duke09
I have never had a bad RTC chip to confirm or deny the info you were told. I can only repeat what I said in my previous post about the testing you would need to do regardless of whether System 7 is sensitive to a working RTC.
My quick scan of this thread for the first time today suggests that @Duke09 is only "guessing" the RTC is bad based on advice given by others about how System 6 responds to a bad RTC versus System 7. But if the RTC is bad, it should be easy to test merely by putting in a good PRAM battery...
@billbucks That seems to me to be a reasonably good solution. In the worst case where the replacement chip doesn't solve your problem, you're not out too much money and you'd technically have some other spare parts too.
My eyes are on this thread, Mark, because I too have a late 2009 27" iMac with internal Apple DVD drive and the drives in m G4 Cubes won't eject (even though they are good otherwise). So I look forward to hearing if it was a final solution for you, and want to hear how much work was involved...
They advertise a lot, whereas JLC hasn't done really any advertising that I've seen. Not only do I see PCBWay everywhere on YouTube, but they have approached me twice by email. Once was a couple years ago when I told them the MOQ of 5pcs was a bit hard to swallow for the average vintage...
Physical size of SMD resistors varies by power handling. Even a 1/32W resistor should safely act as a pull-up in this case, I would assume, but that size would be very tiny. Nothing wrong with going higher wattage to get a larger body, if needed, however.
And yes, regular resistors with leads...
