Wow! I see on the Kickstarter page that you met the $19k goal very quickly, illustrating how much pent up demand there is for those fabulous clear cases!

    Could you post a photo?

    Remove and socket SE/30 CPU?

On the FR-301, Colin? The reason I ask is because my FR-301 has only 4 dial settings... So far, I've only dared to go as high as setting #2 because that is marked as being 400°C. However, I've never tried to desolder the CPU before, so it very well could require more heat, especially on...

MacSD - Multi-device SCSI adapter with audio

Even if that "hard disk image" is used as a CD image? (Meaning, a rogue Mac could technically corrupt CD images on a MacSD's SD card by forcibly writing to that CD image?)

    Remove and socket SE/30 CPU?

Prior to getting a Hakko FR-301 desoldering gun, I paid @Kay K.M.Mods (a true professional!) to desolder my SE/30 CPU and install a socket. He did a fine job, but it's best if you refrain from using the desoldered CPU (black plastic top) in your socket in the future because there is a tiny bit...

MacSD - Multi-device SCSI adapter with audio

@YMK I spotted this post by @David Cook where he asks this: What is the easiest way to make a read-only volume on MacSD? The first thing that came to my mind was the CD-ROM feature of MacSD, but making an ISO can be troublesome, and you can't just rename a *.dsk to be *.iso to trick MacSD...

Floppy drive Sony MP-F51W-23 upper head doesn't touch the disk

Thank you for the photos. Unfortunately they are not high enough resolution for me to see any possible leakage, but you would really need to remove the entire PCB from its metal housing to view both top and bottom anyway. It's troublesome to do that, I know, but it really does need to be done...

Floppy drive Sony MP-F51W-23 upper head doesn't touch the disk

I'm afraid I cannot identify the crack in your uj11.png photo, and other than being a but dirty, I don't see anything unusual in you ue10.png photo either. But neither photo is high resolution or tack sharp, so I guess my eyes are not seeing what your eyes are seeing. Now as to the dark spots...

4.5V Battery Replacement for Early Compact Macs?

After reading your post, I searched Amazon Japan for one of those ER14505 batteries and found a cheaper price than you paid: https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/ER14505-Non-Rechargeable-Electrical-Equipment-Universal/dp/B08F1NBZ2M/ I see those are NOT rechargeable, making the cost of replacement...

Can You Put a White Phosphor CRT into an IBM 5155 (Portable Personal PC)?

@RetroTheory I certainly don't mean to detract from the main point of this thread, but in regards to your photo, it looks almost like you have that Mac in "dark mode." How did you accomplish that? It's pretty stunning. And what interface are you using for the naked CRT attached to your Apple...

Floppy drive Sony MP-F51W-23 upper head doesn't touch the disk

If left off completely or if installed upside-down (such that it us UNDER the metal frame rather than on top of it), then yes, the heads would remain slammed against each other instead of "open" when no disk is in the drive. So, yes, that black piece is a critically important part. @billbucks...

I believe you’re referring to the black plastic piece that I am touching with my index finger in the photo below.

Mirror Technologies PixelView 1 compatible interface cards?

I always get excited when I see a non-Apple B&W CRT appear. There were no doubt hoards of them sold, but where are they all today? Were they all just thrown out because they lacked an Apple logo on them? Glad to see the previous owner of that Mirror brand FPD took good care of it...

    Identifying memory modules.

Googling the part number yields nothing, but if the "4" indicates 4MB, then I assume it's a 16MB "composite" SIMM based on that chip at the top, lacking only the parity chip (which Macs don't need). But not all Macs play well with "composite" SIMMs, so keep that in mind when testing that RAM...

I suspect not. Neither Kay Koba's product page nor the original GitHub README say anything about the IIgs: https://github.com/markadev/AppleII-VGA/blob/main/README.md

Bolle's SE/30 Board Recreation - Pick and Place / BOM Discrepency

Just wanted to update this thread with exact info from @Bolle about the Rev. 5 board changes: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/macintosh-se-30-logicboard-recreation-thread-revival.39485/page-26#post-549970 "The pads on the two large PLCCs are longer now… especially on the 68882..."

    SmartPortSD - lets build it!

I've seen a few "SmartPort" SD card drive products pop up over the years, and each time I wondered what advantages they had over the venerable FloppyEMU. It's often a cost advantage, not a feature advantage. Most of the SmartPort SD card drives are just that — SmartPort-only, with no means of...

    Modifications to 128k logic board

Hearing the sound would be helpful because there are several. But for now... Flup sounds have various causes including disconnected cables: https://archive.org/details/mac_The_Dead_Mac_Scrolls_1992/page/n23/mode/2up?q=tick Chirp noises can be a bad CR5...

Floppy drive Sony MP-F51W-23 upper head doesn't touch the disk

I strongly recommend a teardown so you can shoot photos for us of the head, both in the open-wide condition, and when clamping a disk. That would give you a better look too. Because if something is indeed bent, it's very hard to bend it back to the factory condition.

Radius Rocket & Radius Thunder 24/GT compatible?

Yes, the Thunder 24/GT is indeed a Thunder IV GX 1152 without DSP, but I wonder what “slot E” refers to in you last screenshot.
