    “Latest activity” view without reactions?

Those 3 "Spock reactions" exist because he is half-human. I'm not against emoji, but being a child of the 70's, I grew up when those things didn't exist and when we wrote text as text. Not even a single semi-colon winky-face to be found. Text in those days was dry and boring yet still very...

    “Latest activity” view without reactions?

While deeply pondering this... :):(:confused::p:D:eek::oops::rolleyes:o_O:cautious::censored::cry::love::LOL::ROFLMAO::sick::sleep::sneaky::unsure::whistle::giggle::alien::devilish::geek::poop::ninja: ... I realize we humans are much too emotional. That is perhaps why I enjoy what this...

Maxell responded to the battery leak issue on Twitter

We shouldn't bash Maxell, of course. But realistically, when you read through this thread of horror and ponder what the owners of those machines must have uttered when they saw the disaster, I suspect they did cast at least a teensy bit a blame Maxell's way. :-)

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

@retr01 Download Computer Inspector and use the Joystick calibration program. It's what I use and works fine in the Virtual ][ emulator. It's better than those simplistic BASIC programs which only show the two numbers.

Maxell responded to the battery leak issue on Twitter

Interesting someone from their company made time to even reply. I didn't know they had a PR department. While that explanation is to be expected, it doesn't explain why a disproportionate number of Maxell branded batteries in vintage Macs tend to destroy those precious machines far more than...

    Hello from the UK!

Welcome to the TinkerDifferent forum, @PiperTheGreat! Your mention of Acorn reminds me that although we do have a sub-forum for that, it hasn't gained much traction. I guess there are very few people out there who have them or have interest in them these days. Anyway, enjoy the forum. I look...

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

The only one thing I never asked him is perhaps something you still can... What part of the code affects the outer reach of the stick when it's pulled right and pulled down. If we know how to fiddle with the code, then compile it, we already know how to program a HEX file, so it would then be...

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

As I mentioned in this earlier post, Henry from ReactiveMicro saw an issue on his end and he altered something in the firmware and sent me this HEX file. I downloaded and flashed that file to my Joystick Shield, but it did not resolve the problem (when two capacitors are installed). I would...

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

@skate323k137 Joysticks without any capacitors inside work fine with the Joystick Shield. But if you're like me an only have one joystick that you use primarily with the IIe Card, that forces you to add capacitors so the stick reaches 255,255. But when you add the caps, then Joystick Shield...

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

This product: https://www.reactivemicro.com/product/joystick-shield-from-retroconnector/ The name is very strange. I have no idea why a Joystick needs a Star Trek type Shield around it. Speaking of which, there is no plastic case for it either. And it was only after I posted about that fact...

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

That would be the only solution, which would allow me to sever the 3.3nF cap, allowing the Mach III to work with Joystick Shield. But the method of severing that cap only makes practical sense if I drill a hole in my Mach III joystick. And while I've never considered myself a "purist" when it...

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

Bad news. My Mylar cap kit arrived. The good news is that instead of the 10nF ceramic cap I had installed before, I found that a 3.3nF Mylar was adequate to calibrate the Mach III joystick with my Apple IIe Card installed in my Color Classic Mystic (along with the 2nF Mylar I had...

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

I pondered drilling a hole in the joystick to do just that, but my hope is that the problem was merely my use of a ceramic disk capacitor which Joystick Shield doesn't like. Or maybe 10nF was too much for Joystick Shield whereas 2nF is not? Because like I said, the 2nF cap seems to be fine...

Disk Jockey, a disk image file maker for your retro stuff - Beta for version 3!

@OneGeekArmy Thank you again for your amazing work on Disk Jockey. I made some time today to test ProDOS images, created with Disk Jockey v.2.5, on a BlueSCSI with my Apple IIe Card installed in a Color Classic Mystic. Here are my findings... .hdv & .po & .dsk ProDOS images are recognized by...

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

After much testing with Henry at my side, I finally found a solution on my own. I had a suspicion all along this might be the root cause, and now I have confirmed it. CAPACITORS! While doing research for my two videos on the Apple IIe Card, I was advised by the Apple II experts to add...

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

@skate323k137 Henry replied back with a way to program the Joystick Shield using TeensyLoader. My firmware flashing was a success, but the new firmware didn't help. I'll PM you with a video I sent to Henry so you can see exactly what I did.

NEED HELP: Joystick Shield + Mach III + Virtual ][ emulator + M1 Mac

I received an email from Henry at ReactiveMicro. He said he sees the same issue as me! But he also said he is using Windows and said there is a "Game Controller Calibration" control panel he can use. I cannot use that on my Mac. I don't have a Windows machine. MacOS doesn't have anything...
