    LCII Sony Superdrive Issue

Here are the LED test circuits I was pondering earlier... Closing the switch causes the LED to light in both cases. But that assumes it is a BJT transistor. It very well could be a MOSFET transistor instead. Yes, that 12V marking means 12 volts... In light of that, it's probably a PNP...

    LCII Sony Superdrive Issue

Thank you for your kind words, and I apologize I overlooked the content of your opening post. I don’t have a schematic, and I don’t have that particular drive in front of me right now. But since you were able to swap out a chip on the PCB, you would be experienced enough to do the following. I...

    LCII Sony Superdrive Issue

I have renewed my Mouser Cart with all in-stock caps as of right now. Get them soon, while they're in stock! :-)

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

That's probably the only reason it flows better than the 60/40, but the flux residue doesn't look too bad in your photos. Could be that it spits so much because it has less Rosin in it, in which case it will be easier for the IPA to clean off later, when you finally clean the board. My MG...

    LCII Sony Superdrive Issue

Mouser troubles me greatly. I spent a lot of time updating carts. And sometimes I’ll update a cart only to find one of the capacitors I updated then goes out of stock the next day, even though they were hundreds in stock at the time I replaced it! It’s crazy.

@Kai Robinson what is your experience with Phoenix Engineering? It seems clear I need to update my BOM with another source, but I’m not sure what link I should use. You are probably going to run out of those sockets pretty quickly.

The link to those in my BOM leads to the DIP IC... https://www.utsource.net/itm/p/11226849.html Are you saying that is the exact item you purchased but you received the SOP package due to a mistake by UT Source? If so, you need to contact them about that. I agree. Plus I am concerned...

My MacSD Upgrade for the Colour Classic [and Stereo Mod]

I just measured. They both measure roughly 16Ω.

My MacSD Upgrade for the Colour Classic [and Stereo Mod]

The existence of an STL for the speaker case is fantastic! I can verify that on the speaker I extracted from the Q630, it is stamped with 16Ω on the outside of the plastic case. But when I removed the stock speaker from inside my Color Classic and examined it, I see no markings at all. (I...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

@Zane Kaminski , what is the current stage of testing? Is it fully working now, or still being debugged? Any distorted sound issues when you boot into Systems 6 or 7?

My MacSD Upgrade for the Colour Classic [and Stereo Mod]

I first mentioned the list of needed parts and the procedure in this post, but here's an update based on what I bought in my last Mouser order... STEREO MOD Required Parts: IS1 = TDA7052A (will extract from my gutted LT575) CS3 = 1µF 50V radial capacitor (my pick: 50YXF1MEFC5X11) — same as...

My MacSD Upgrade for the Colour Classic [and Stereo Mod]

You must have received your chip from EBAY by now. Does what you received look like the EBAY photo? And how well does it work? In preparation for my Color Classic STEREO MOD video, I've been looking around for sources of those chips, for people who don't have a working yet gutted LC575 like I...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Doing two boards at once is pretty amazing! They both look absolutely beautiful, Philippe! And you are doing RAM too! Fabulous! Also, thank you for telling me about the error on my BOM. I just corrected the UT Source link for U1C (SONY SND chip). By the way, I was examining the recent pic...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Just to let everyone know, I did confirm the MacSD firmware update fix works in SCSI Director Pro 2.1.7 and 4.0. So that largely answers the questions @retr01 had which I did not answer. Unless a fellow SE owner (with old ROMs & IWM) can prove me wrong, I will just assume for now that...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Yes, they work fine on my faster Macs and don't generate a Trap error like I am seeing on the SE. I will answer your other questions at a later time. Thanks, Kai. I feel a bit embarrassed since I believe that is about the 4th time you've reminded me the chip you sent to me is in fact an...

No because I still haven't gotten around to buying the required programmer, and I also don't have the required chips for the ROM replacement PCBs yet either. This is what I have right now (what you kindly shipped to me, Kai)... In the above photo, from left to right, the chips are: PLCC28...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

I've made time to test the stock SE motherboard from Marcus Hesse, which has the same old version ROMs and IWM as my SE Reloaded board. I am getting the same results on it. But I need to clarify one important thing. This is address error problem in SCSI Director Pro is happening only when I...
