Why not. The iMac originally can use both the soft power switch on the front panel and the soft power switch on the keyboard. The power switching of the main logic board is easy to analyze. In fact, most 040 machines have a soft power switch on the back, right? It's the same.

I think the LED you're talking about is a voltmeter, but it's only connected to each volt and ground. What you have to be careful about is the negative voltage part. In this case, install the voltmeter in reverse. Good hack!
