    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

Install the SSD in the Cube, on the IDE bus, and boot from a Tiger install disk, maybe this will work?

Better or Worse PATA to SATA Adapters? - TAM

Or use a CompactFlash Card, with a passive adapter. CF cards are natively IDE drives, so better compatibility and I think enough performance for the relatively low end computer that is the TAM.

    Vectrex

I thought you were wondering about the possibility of a green display in a compact Mac, and I remembered seeing it already done, so I posted the video. No matter how it’s done it’s the result that counts! And by the way, displaying a raster image or video on an oscilloscope is basically...

    Arkanoid 1.10? 🧱🕹️🤩

The arcade version used a rotary controller, maybe you could play it with a Griffin PowerMate?

BlueSCSI v2 Pico - Low cost, open hardware, fast SCSI device!

Maybe it’s just because the (too long?) ribbon câble of the SD extender is unshielded and thus picking up all sorts of interferences?

6500 db15 to vga adapter issues

That Radius cable could very well be proprietary for a Radius video card and its associated Radius monitor. So not at all wired correctly for Mac video to VGA. But that is a question for the specialists, I’m not well versed in the pre-PowerPC era of the Macintosh.

6500 db15 to vga adapter issues

This is the cable that I have: I don’t see any brand name or logo on it, but there’s a part number (387-822A): A closer look at the plugs:

6500 db15 to vga adapter issues

I’m pretty sure the cable you linked to won’t work at all. It really needs to be a video cable, specially wired to connect a Mac to a VGA monitor, and I don’t think they are manufactured anymore. Your best chance is the usual second hand buying and selling web sites. That’s were I found mine...

6500 db15 to vga adapter issues

You don’t need a dip switches adapter for this Mac (none of the PPC Macs need one, I think?), a simple short adapter cable, or long, direct, db15 to vga cable will work. In those cables, pin 4 of the db15 plug (monitor sense 0) is open (not connected to anything), and pins 7 & 10 of the db15...

    Adjusting user-agent strings to access Macintosh Garden 💐 🌐 💾 🌻

Talking about vintage browsers, I tried Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator on Macintosh Garden from my Power Mac 6400 running MacOS 9.1, both browsers are the versions installed with the system from an install CD, and they behave quite differently: Netscape doesn’t render the garden...

USB / FireWire PCI combo card for a Power Mac 6400 ?

Bought a Sonnet Tango 2.0 : it was not cheap, but it was new! Nice purple card, works great! Previously tried an Adaptec DuoConnect AUA-3020, but it was only half working (the FireWire half). And prior to that I had bought (real cheap) a Belkin F5U508, but with a VIA chipset there was no way it...

    Good first Apple II?

If you replace the ROM, might as well replace it with a ROM 4X. If you come accros a //c that is missing its power supply (it could be a bargain!), it’s easy to make a replacement.

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

Oh by the way, if you want to use a larger drive, everything is explained here: Using 128 GiB or Larger ATA Hard Drives (and it even works with a SATA converter)

    Replacing a 68030 in a Mac Classic 2

This should be: 68EC - Embedded Controller, no MMU, no FPU 68LC - no internal FPU (the LC variants do have a MMU)

BlueSCSI v2 Pico - Low cost, open hardware, fast SCSI device!

I should have been more precise, I was thinking of a technical reason, like electric limitations, that would prevent the use of a cable. I can totally see the practical uses of attaching it directly at the back of the case!

BlueSCSI v2 Pico - Low cost, open hardware, fast SCSI device!

Is there a reason to plug the external BlueSCSI directly at the back of the computer? Could you use a cable, like a normal external SCSI device? As existing SCSI DB-25 to DB-25 cables are male-male (like for SCSI Zip drives), you’ll have to replace the DB-25 on the BlueSCSI with a female one...

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

I have installed a SSD in one of my Cubes. I used a cheap metal bracket intended to mount a 2.5" SATA drive in a 3.5" bay: Because of the IDE-SATA adapter, the SSD will not align with the mounting holes: I just used double sided tape to mount it! The assembly can then be used like any 3.5"...

USB / FireWire PCI combo card for a Power Mac 6400 ?

Can I just buy a card that was designed for Mac, or is there some incompatibilities I should know ?
