JapanEase — Japanese Language Learning — 日本語教育

I assume you mean that you have this... I have a version of that same keyboard but am not yet able to test it because I found all the keys have been desoldered, probably by the previous owner who was trying to clean it. So I am unsure if mine will work at all. If yours does work but just...

JapanEase — Japanese Language Learning — 日本語教育

The ticket to learning anything is to HAVE FUN while learning. Since we are all geeks who get our thrills from vintage computers, it makes sense that using this vintage software should be fun, especially for HyperCard fans. As such, I think it really can offer some meaningful basic instruction...

JapanEase — Japanese Language Learning — 日本語教育

日本語を大好きな人たちへ! I just uploaded the full version of JapanEase to Macintosh Garden: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/japanease-full-version-vol1-vol2 I purchased this new in 1994, just prior to moving to Japan. I can't find the documentation or original disks. I simply extracted the stacks...

Recapping the LC575 "Mystic" motherboard for the Color Classic

A few inches means at least 3 inches, which means about 7.5cm. I had my light that far away at first, but it wasn't curing after a couple minutes so I moved it as close as 1cm away for another few minutes and then I saw the burn mark. Proximity clearly matters, as does wattage. Not sure if...

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

Wow! Thank you for testing that! The G4 Cube officially only supports up to OS 10.4 Tiger, but I see that someone created a hack to get 10.5 on the Cube. I may try that.

Recapping the LC575 "Mystic" motherboard for the Color Classic

It may have simply been proximity and duration. How close have you kept your light to a board and for how long? I had my light very close to the board for several minutes because I had a little bit too much UV solder mask on there and it took longer for it to harden.

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

The rules set forth in the opening post allow for Linux to be installed and used in this challenge. I myself have never use Linux, nor am I inclined to use it regardless of the benefits. In fact, I have been Mac only since my very first home computer in 1984, which was the 128K model. I have...

Recapping the LC575 "Mystic" motherboard for the Color Classic

Thank you for alerting me to the backorder status on Mouser! I will update the text description. If you would like the exact same part number I used (bearing in mind there is nothing too magical about it), Digikey has stock here. Alternatively, Mouser has these alternatives in stock which...

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

Pretty much any site that isn’t dedicated to vintage computers. GitHub is but one example among thousands which won’t load in even Classilla under OS9.

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

I've tried the latest version of Classilla, but that isn't a solution for modern SSL. Could you offer one of the your current ways to get around the SSL certificate issue, such that an OS 9 browser can access modern sites?

For all the Color Classic FANS out there...

I sincerely appreciate your kind words, especially because I think your videos are really quite amazing. Without a doubt, you are a true asset to the vintage Mac Community! Please say "hi" to Maccy for me! :)

    Compact Mac Video Adapter

That would depend on which vintage Mac you have. I recently spotted the photo below which shows a white wire connection to a Mac Classic motherboard, but the other connections appear to have been cut off. We really need the installation manual for these things. Based on other photos I've...

    Mystic Options

Not sure if @Kay K.M.Mods has a RaSCSI. I don't, which is why I am unable to properly answer the question. So long as the physical size of the RaSCSI isn't larger in any direction than a 3.5mm spinning platter HDD, I don't see why it wouldn't fit.

    Happy 2022!

Well, I put too my Flux on my Capacitor and I'm unable to get my Hoverboard up to 88 miles per hour, but maybe Kay Koba can help me with that. We have our first in-person meeting scheduled on Jan 3rd. Should be fun, especially if he arrives at my place driving a DeLorean!

    Happy 2022!

It has just struck midnight here in Japan. We are now celebrating the arrival of 2022. 🥳 I would like to offer my sincere appreciation to all of you who have kindly joined TinkerDifferent and make it better each and every day with each and every post. Despite COVID and all the negatives...

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

Since not a single person took time to answer my previous mentions of the fact that PPC Macs have SSL issues when browsing modern websites today, I take it from your post that most people don't really care about that now because we have Discord? :-) Seriously, it would seem no one has a real...

SPEAKER REPLACEMENT for mid-2015 15" MacBook Pro

My mid-2015 15" MBP Retina is now considered a very low end Mac, but it's still my daily driver. My left speaker has been bad for about a year, and recently I had enough and decided to swap it out. I replaced the other speaker too since you have to teardown the whole machine to replace...

MessagePad 2000 + extra surprises = The Pinnacle of my Retro Macintosh Office -- Completion!

I love my 2100, and mine is a 2000 on front too. I even have the built-in serial board so you can plug in a serial cable without any adapter. But it's been years since I tried connecting it to a vintage Mac via NCU (regular and patched version). I can connect and communicate, but for some...

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

It would seem that the greater challenge is to get replies during the holidays! 😜 Of course, I understand why. It's freezing here in Japan right now (snowed today), but in Australia I see the weather is just fine! Enjoy those warm days, Bruce! 🌞
