of course not @Tashtari - you are making rash hyperbolic judgments on those who you perceive as disagreeing with you which I do not appreciate. I stand by my assertion that it is BMoW's responsibility to pursue this - let me explain. The over arching point Im trying to make is that the courts...
I AM NOT A PATENT/TRADEMARK/COPYRIGHT LAWYER - LOL :D - Just a regular guy trying to make sense of CCO licensing haha!
The CC license clearly states that they are irrevocable meaning they cannot be changed or removed. BUT it also says that licensors can change the license or stop offering the...
Finished TFFx which works great. The rattle in that Sony was a free Frank Sinatra CD lol. It must’ve slipped out of the carousel and jammed itself under the reader/CD arm which was preventing it from returning the CDs back to the carousel.
It’s working great now.
I also linked my NAS music...
How one stores their laptops/portables yields equally vigorous accusations 😅
Yanno Id love to try a new paste but my AS5 spawned babies somehow because I keep finding tubes of the stuff around - in my office, out on my garage bench, in the guest bedroom (how and why? lol) so I can’t in good...
Thermal paste works. I used Arctic Silver 5 on my revb a few years back and it works great but any paste (as5, mx, etc) should do the job.
just be sure not to video it and definitely don’t post it on YT or you’ll be harassed by the how-to party officials and shunned forever 😅
Compiling fresh Tffx for this Tiger/Shuriken install.
I forgot to change my power settings so the Mac went to sleep instead of finishing while I was asleep - Oopsie. :DLol. It’ll finish while I complete my $9.99 goodwill Sony CDP-CX53 refirb. Something is rattling around inside and the carousel...
Heat is usually what destroys a computer & PowerPC CPU’s are notoriously power hungry & hot running :) so keeping its thermal paste in good condition is key to its health & longevity. I liken thermal paste to car oil; just because your car runs and isn’t broken (yet), that 15k mile oil is...
Your thought about removing the dvd drive would absolutely provide room for additional fans and without the drive there, you have easy molex power to draw from. If you needed a drive, a usb superdrive would work well for when you needed it. Hmm, maybe with the fan, you'd even have room for an...
Do you think the resistor you installed may be slowing things down too much when under load causing added heat resulting in the heatsink assembly & bottom getting hot?
Instead of slowing the fan with a resistor, you could use something like G4fancontrol. Maintain maximum fan speed and ramp it...
Also, consider that iMac G5 was released 09-2004 and discontinued 01-2006 so that thermal paste is quite possibly between 19 & 21 years old. Even the best pastes I know of don’t go past 8-10 years where most folks give pastes like AS5 (what I typically use) a functional life span of around 5...
Hot temperatures up to thermal shut down/freezing.
Ambient operating range for imacG5 is 50-95F. Apple doesn’t state (at least I’ve never found them) cpu or hdd temps but Here on the Apple community forum, user Bosco45 states their normal cpu temps are from 120-130F when under load & HDD...
Finished setting up my a1047 with a triple boot of PPC lubuntu 16.04, Shuriken 10.4.12 & Sorbet 1.5v 10.5.9. Got the latest PPC discord lite off GitHub & got past the borky captcha & was able to log in for the first time. Upgraded from the spinner that was in there to two ssds with Orico sleds...
Absolutely give it a shot :) undoubtedly with so many distros out there that you’ll get ten ppl respond with ten different distros LOL.
I am a fan of MX Linux+XFCE desktop on early Intel Macs. Give a few a try and see which works best for you. I mean they’re all free so why not ? :) I think MX...
@PentaxEnthusiast welcome :) Looks like fun! Makes me want to fire up one of my imacG3s for some good ol StarCraft Terran campaign.
I also just found ShogoMAD for macos9, so might fire that up as well but I think its 3d environment might be a bit much for the imacg3s GPU. Probably will fire up...
Havent had much time but I was able to get Discord lite to work on my Tiger install on my A1047. Initially it would not work as CAPTCHA gate kept log in and as it was grayed out, I wasn't able to log in. There is also a token option which I had no idea what my token was so I logged into browser...
I do like Morph os as well but I am not willing to pay a $85 premium for each machine I want to put it on which as of right now would be five including two Powermac G5s, an Ibook & Powerbook G4 and a Mini G4. I'm not spending $425 to accomplish that, so until an affordable group license option...
