Neat Pata/Sata card. I've never seen one before. I have a Visiontek 7000 pci in my B&W running Tiger. Ive not played with that ATI config menu before. Sounds like a fun reason for installing & dual booting os9lives 9 dmg in my B&W.

What's the best way to fix a stripped-case screw hole?

If it were me, I’d try and use a slightly larger screw or drill out the existing hole to fit a slightly larger screw size.

Wouldn't this post be more effective over on MR? - The forum where the thread is actually located with the folks using/talking about it? Have you looped in wicknix to discuss your concerns directly with him? I recall @wicknix was using Void for his PowerPC Linux experience last time we chatted...

Power Mac G4 Quicksilver main case fan replacement

FYI, for anyone having trouble finding a properly spec'd replacement fan (I am a fan of Noctua personally), PTFE lubricants like 3in1 and Triflow have workd really well for me on aged existing case fan bearings. Every couple of years or as they get loud, a few drops on the bearing assembly...

Further pcie weirdness. I went to boot up this a1117 and it could not find any boot devices lol. boot-option led to nothing. I took the Accelsior M out and the box miraculously booted to life directly to Sorbet. These seem to be problematic in Powermac G5s so I will keep them for my cMPs. In...

Time has been limited with everything going on around here. I did manage to get a Netac 120Gb SSD into an Orico drive sled and installed into my a1047 PMG5 (2.0Ghz dual cpu, 4gb ram max - the neutered PCI model) and partitioned for a Shuriken 10.4.12 and Sorbet 10.5.9 install. Ive gotten Shurien...

Victoria? I've not deviated from AS5 for all my macs except the few instances where I used 2mm thermal pads. AS5 works really well for me. I thought about trying Grizzly Kryonaut as it does test as superior but what Ive read is that it is really stiff and hard to spread. I seem to have...

How the Macintosh Plus helped make Star Trek history! #VFX

Wow! Awesome video about one of my favorite Trek scenes :) Ok, my only question is: who did the space whale sounds at the very end of the video? Fantastic job!

Sounds good :) Speaking of a similar cable experience, I thought I had tons of C14 cables and just realized that all 7 in my garage bench were C5 so I had to pilfer a couple off other crts and winboxes I’m working on to see if the 405 powered up. (Truth be told I know I have a grip of them in my...

Nice TOTC Sony collection - great score on the CD1000! I have a modest Sony Maciva/cybershot collection (just two lol) I’ve had the cybershot DSC-S30 above since new, Christmas 2000. It was a gift from my grandpa. I love that camera . I later got the Mavica as part of a trade around...

You are correct again. I switched my Motu PCIE sound card/interface with the Accelsior M. Here's Sys pref witout the motu. Here's the prior sys pref for comparison with the Accelsior M in slot 2 Do you have any recommendations for a pcie2 bridge? Anyhow, I have to fly and go cook dinner for...

2026 PowerPC Challenge: the user's Unofficial thread

Hi joevt - you are 110% correct - I did not snap that this Powermac is gen1 pcie lol capped at 250mb sec. The scoring makes much more sense knowing that. The msata itself is rated for up to 500mb sec reads, but the OWC Mercury Accelsior pcie card was released in 2012 aimed not at PMG5s so much...

Picked up two 1400c 133 PowerBooks and a performa 405 on local CL for $30 bucks. While I have a g3 iBook charger, unfortunately it doesn’t fit this old PowerBook so I don’t know if they work at all but in the hopes they do, I figured $30 bucks was a fair gamble. The plastics aside from being...

2026 PowerPC Challenge: the user's Unofficial thread

With the start of PowerPC Challenge 2026, I decided to install an OWC Excelsior pcie card with a fresh Orico 128gb msata I picked up months back into my dual core 2ghz A1117 Powermac G5/Sorbet. I am already quite happy with how it performs now but was curious what the increase would look like...

    1400 power supply recommendation?

I have the opportunity to pick up a couple pb1400s in good condition but they don’t have amtheir power supply. Can anyone recommend a aftermarket power supply to buy? If not, what else can I use as si didn’t see any oem chargers on eBay. Thanks,

Last thing you did with your G5?

Last thing I did to my a1117 was install a Mercury Accelsior M sata ssd to pcie adapter & the a1047, I was messing around with lubuntu but I think I will transition it to a shuriken Tiger box.

2008 Unibody MacBook Pro Linux gpu issues

I found this thread on the arch forum with a guy having similar issues with the nvidia driver and 08 mbp. Doesn't look like he perfectly fixed his issues either as he solved for one issue, additional problems/instability popped up but per that thread, the proprietary nvida driver *should* work...

So that is how it came? With the zip branded drive like that? Good to know! Thanks :)
