Already did that. Got everything working. 🙂 I have an external 500 GB drive partitioned into 2 250 GB drives: one for OS9 and the other for OSX -the two lowest drives. The new internal storage is also 250 GB. I left the shielding off the back of the DVD ROM and new SSD; it only gets in the way...

Okay, I decided to have the second internal SSD run off the same chain as the DVD drive. At least, I won’t have to worry about power cable management for the time being. I’ll need to set the DVD drive to master…except it doesn’t indicate how. 🧐 Edit-never mind. Found out...

Alas, this set-up will need to go internal (which it was going to do eventually, anyway). While the connections work, it won’t physically go into the case, unless I have extensions for the data and power cables that can wrap/fold. So, this 250 GB SSD will go on the ATA 66 connector in the G4...

I could save that adapter to put an additional internal drive in the MDD-I still have spaces for two additional drives in it. I might just order that external case you recommended! :)

Interesting side note: I wonder if there is a limitation to what size HD my MDD can view. I have a 1 TB Iomega drive, and while I can view it on my Mac Mini, I can't view it on the MDD; I get a prompt saying its "not recognized by this computer". (This is under Tiger; I have dual boot-the other...

Hey folks...so, this is the first time I'm trying this. The drive was an 80 gig Maxtor external HD, and it bit the dust. I want to convert this to a 250 gig SSD external drive for my G4 MDD. What kind of adapter must I get to hook up the SSD?

Okay, I got the 5 port USB 2.0 card. Long story short-that flash drive went bad. I tried others and they work-on the G4.

At least with two of them. The flash drives work fine on the other Macs.

Okay, I tried viewing the contents of the USB drive under OS 9.2. I can't view the files under List, but I can view them as Buttons or Icons. On my iMac (OSX Yosemite), I can view the flash drive just fine under various Views. Edited to add: I tried the PMU reset button anyway to see if it...
