First official C64 in 36 years

^^ this last. I have always been a GUI guy once they existed, since 1984. I mean, I did DOS if I HAD to, but… and even I have an interest in this C64 thing and have ordered one, to mess with and learn a little of what I skipped out back in the day once the Mac launched.

First official C64 in 36 years

Thanks for that. Will also follow your Powerbook repair series with interest. Off topic, but I have a couple/few 3400c’s and Kanga’s in various states of repair, one 3400c fully currently working, that I want to repair as much as I can and have at least two working examples. Will go look for...

First official C64 in 36 years

As a result of our recent vintage computer show in Boise, in which I took part, I ended up ordering one of these and am quite excited about it. I particularly like the idea of the spiral bound instruction book that will remind me how to do Basic, and how to use that machine. Other than doing...

Boise Area of Idaho - Meet up/exhibition 4-18-26 and new club: TVVCC.ORG

Our Boise event, inaugural for the new group, went very well! Apple II, Macintosh of various eras, Commodore of various iterations and eras, Amiga, Atari, and IBM-PC were all represented. For a couple/few hours, almost all displays/stations were occupied, and the flow was pretty consistent for...

I believe the founder of our local Treasure Valley (Boise area) Vintage Computing Club is going to be there. Don't know if he is a member here.

2026 PowerPC Challenge: the user's Unofficial thread

I think I may have accidentally already started one, if I remember correctly. Will check it out and be sure. I used to have a similar experience with some folks on my guitar forum on Saturday mornings for a while as well. Nerding out on gear, music theory as it applied to guitar, etc. And I...

2026 PowerPC Challenge: the user's Unofficial thread

@phunguss @Trash80toG4 thanks. That makes sense. I just was going through posts and ran across this and was curious. Well, anyway, since I was starting from zero this last January and definitely have power PCs in the mix, you could say I have projects going. Maybe I will just post a quick...

    My general suggestions.

Cross posting these thoughts over here, also posted in the 68kMIA thread, as a result of the discussion there. Hey all! I am glad the other place is back up, but I wanted to say how in this experience, I am coming to prefer this place, and hope the discussions here continue to grow and...

2026 PowerPC Challenge: the user's Unofficial thread

OK, what is it? Taking a quick scan of the posts, it is basically a marchintosh for PowerPC's over the course of the year? Projects people are doing basically? If so, I have some.

Hey all! I am glad the other place is back up, but I wanted to say how in this experience, I am coming to prefer this place, and hope the discussions here continue to grow and strengthen. 1. Dark mode and look. I, and my older eyes with too much screen time on them, prefer the design, look...

Thanks for all of those suggestions. It is a big help!

Using Vintage Macs for Productivity and Document Drafting

I will likely be in either a version of 8 or 9 on a G3 processor in my Beige G3, or Blue and White, or Kanga, or 603e chip if on my 3400c. Considering Office 98 or 2001, for forward capability. Or maybe 5.1a, based on a recommendation I just read, for work product and having 2001 on hand as an...

Using Vintage Macs for Productivity and Document Drafting

It’s truly a thing!! From back when I actually became a really good student by the time I started law school, I have scheduled and managed my day to take advantage of when my brain wanted to do certain things. Such as after classes and initial study, doing exercise or something physical when I...

Using Vintage Macs for Productivity and Document Drafting

Starting this thread to get feedback from the crew, and also share my research and experience, in using some of my recently acquired Macs for productive time drafting docs that can be shared via ethernet, or otherwise to my modern machines for finalizing and filing via things like eFiling for...
