LCD Replacement for the Macintosh Portable

Ah, that's correct. I had to send in my old cut cable for him to re-use the connector. Would it be possible to remove the board connector and try to solder on a modern connector. Would likely require bodge wires and maybe some drilling. Or, maybe for a less destructive option you could...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

OK, decided to graduate from TinkerCad into OpenSCAD for trying to model the Lisa Mini case with display. All of this is still based on the assumption that we can get a 9.7" 4:3 screen to work. I just don't see the reason for using a 16:9 1080p LCD for this project when it will just have black...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

OK, I spent some time cleaning up my files and getting them ready for others. I also created a couple of variants. For example, the one I printed has the Lisa and Apple logos, which I will include in the zip file here, but I didn't include in my Thingiverse upload. Not sure if it would get...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

Now that I'm looking at it, I kind of wish I had rotated it to look like the right side of the Lisa . I could have rotated the text on the buttons, but the problem would be that the ESFloppy screen would be turned sideways. I'll probably leave it as it for now. Now I need to figure out how to...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

Ok, got it printed in platinum PLA. Certainly doesn’t match the original, but I think it does the Lisa look justice. I need to clean up and organize my files, which are currently optimized for printing in 4 main parts, plus the pull switch on the side. Also, I want to make a version that...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

Yeah, that was how I envisioned it. Worst case it’s four screws undone and you have access to all the switches to make adjustments. Newrly done with the design. Tweaking the power switch plunger design to make it have less play. Ran out of white filament so had to switch to black. I will...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

Ok, added a little character to the case. The Apple / Lisa logo didn’t work out as I’d hoped. I was trying to use PETG as a support for the PLA (they aren’t supposed to stick together, so support removal should be much easier, /!: I thought using black against the white would make it easier to...

Weird discoloration on Color Classic CRT

I tested some of the components in the degauss circuit and everything tested OK. The solder joints on the pins to the coil look good. The PTC thermistor tested ok, and the coil seemed ok. Maybe it is just weak and I need to power cycle it. It's apart for a deep clean, retrobright, and...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

I've got some tweaking to do on some of the parts, but I'm pretty pleased for the first full print. The seam line, while pretty good, isn't quite as smooth as I'd like - will try to adjust the overlap to allow it to be fully flush. I'll also try to add some vintage apple inspired styling to...

Floppy disk vertical? Disks pop out like a toaster? Aside from the concerns over dust (we could put a flip cover to protect it when not in use, I think the idea would be awesome. The problem is still the display. I started making progress on my standalone case for the LisaFPGA... It's...

Weird discoloration on Color Classic CRT

So, probably not the best idea, but wanted to see if it was a magnetization issue, so I took some magnets and moved it around by the screen and the dark spots definitely shift and move. Unfortunately, they are now worse than they were before. I assume that means it is likely an issue that...

Weird discoloration on Color Classic CRT

I picked up a non-working CC a while back and just last night I tracked down the failure to boot to be from two failed vias by a leaky capacitor. Once I got the bodge wires hooked up to correct spots, I was able to get the machine to boot up. Fortunately, even the original HD was still...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

Yeah, that would probably be ideal. The problem, that I've been worried about this whole time is the challenge of how do you manage taking the 1920x1080 (16:9) output with letterboxing from the LisaFPGA and getting it to display the middle portion on a 4:3 display. I was hoping (probably...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

I thought you were saying you don’t want to post it standing on end. And you wanted to print it flat on the surface. Are you saying we should print it like this with the shorter edge on the print bed angled up to use the 400mm of height diagonally to take advantage of the 530mm or diagonal...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

I must be misunderstanding what you are saying. The front piece is ~18" wide The full width of the Lisa assembled is 18.75". The difference between a part that can print a 457mm wide print and one that can print one that is 476mm wide is not going to rule out any 3d printers. Even scaled down...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

I believe it does, but my LisaFPGA arrives Friday so I'll confirm and we can proceed from there with the result. But I forgot the conversion of CRT size to viewable. It definitely seems like even with a smaller 9.7" LCD, it will be difficult to get something printable on a 350mm x 350mm bed...

    Macintosh Portable Power Supply CR-76U

Before I got the battery eliminator, I had a relatively cheep 7.5v 1.5A generic power supply I got off Amazon. The 18W version should give you 1.5A, then set the dial to 7.5v: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FZLQ5LJ?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_14&th=1 Also, I used one of these to...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

In theory it will work with other displays, as long as they support HDMI input. I explain my rationale for wanting to use iPad LCD panels here. Basically it comes down to availability, cost, and being able to shrink the case to better support 3d printing without unsightly seams. I still need...

Vintage mouse using Bambu Mouse 002 kit

Awesome. I was looking to do something to pair with my new LisaFPGA and decided to stuff new guts into the original Lisa mouse model (I think created by @Stephen ). https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/apple-lisa-3d-case-project.5471/post-48704 The Logitech M185 seems to get good reviews...

    Apple Lisa 3d Case Project

That looks great! I think 80% puts it at somewhere in the neighborhood of 380mm. If we could shave another 40mm off to get it comfortably under 350, I feel like the chances of getting good prints on these increases dramatically. Just not sure what that would do to the rest of the proportions.
