    Netatalk 2.3.0 available

More Netatalk news! Building upon a POC by community member @eharmon I was able to put together a more or less fully functioning Docker setup for netatalk2. And now I'm looking for volunteers to try it out, and hopefully hear back if it works for you or not. To get started, check out this git...

    Netatalk 2.3.0 available

Netatalk v2.3.1 is available now. This is a bugfix and compatibility release. Notably, this improves the buggy RMTP broadcast behavior that we attempted to fix with the atalkd "quirks" (-q) mode in 2.3.0. Now atalkd should automatically detect if it needs to run in quirks mode, which should...

    Netatalk 2.3.0 available

If you want a graphical user interface for managing your netatalk 2 server, here's a nice and fresh version of the official webmin module. I spent some time today fixing bugs and improving the UX. Download from: https://github.com/Netatalk/netatalk-webmin/releases/tag/netatalk2-1.1 See the...

    Netatalk 2.3.0 available

A new "feature" release of netatalk 2 is available: 2.3.0 And by "feature" I mean that I cut out a handful of long-obsoleted and bitrotted code. These are effectively breaking changes, which I wanted to signify with a full +0.1 version number bump. For those of you who have been following...

Setting up a Carnivore2 for use with a Korean MSX2

I haven't used the C2 a lot yet, but I think the selling point is how versatile it is. You can emulate two ROM slots. It can emulate a Music ROM, Backup RAM, IDE hard drives with FAT16 file systems and boot capability... It kinda turns the MSX into a gaming and productivity work horse. :)

Setting up a Carnivore2 for use with a Korean MSX2

It works! With the latest c2man40.com for Korean/Arabic systems, I can flash the boot menu and load ROMs to my heart's content. That was such an epic journey to get to this point. The final stretch to get to a working environment, if anyone reading this is struggling, was the following...

Setting up a Carnivore2 for use with a Korean MSX2

@pfuentes69 Unfortunately I have yet to able to get the Carnivore fdisk software to work with the Daewoo CPC-400. I tried a multitude of combinations of MSX DOS boot disks and versions of Carnivore fdisk, to no avail. Actually, now when I read my thread of the msx.org forums I see a new message...

    Netatalk 2 Webmin Module

The last few weeks I've been working hard on getting the 20-year-old Webmin module up to shape and compatible with the latest Netatalk 2.2 and Webmin 2.0. For most current Netatalk users this is probably more of a novelty, but I was thinking that it might lower the bar of entry for new users...

    Netatalk 2.2.9 Released

I wanted to leave this note that I'm not planning to announce dot releases of Netatalk in these forums anymore, unless there's a new killer feature that got added, or something. :) There is a new 2.2.10 release available over at GitHub, which I tagged a few days ago. It consists of a handful of...

Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I Video to Composite Adaptor Pinout Layout

Great summary, thanks for sharing! I wish it would have been as easy to "mod" the CoCo2, but alas... I have been researching various internal mods and will attempt shortly.

    Running Netatalk on macOS

To continue the barrage of Netatalk topics, I just wanted to share that you are now able run an AFP server on macOS, if you're bummed out that Apple deprecated their AFP server with 10.9 Mavericks. The release of Netatalk 3.1.15 marks the culmination of 2 years of hard work by dgsga, originally...

Mac Plus SCSI term power mod

This is a very simple and well-known mod for the Macintosh Plus, but I haven't seen it documented on TD so here goes: The Plus does not provide termination power on the SCSI interface from the factory, but has the requisite circuitry to do so, if you add a diode to CR1 on the logic board (right...

Getting started with the Retro Chip Tester Pro

As a quick introduction, the Retro Chip Tester Pro is a device created by German engineer Stephan Slabihoud which is designed to test a very broad range of vintage chips with an emphasis on 80s tech. It is an actively developed product at the time of writing, with support for more chips added...

Reviving long-dead Dallas DS12887 RTC ICs

There was some very informative discussion in the comment section of my first video, and I was made aware that the DS12887 already has an internal oscillator (which in hindsight I should have noticed) so hooking up another one in serial breaks the circuit design. I made a follow-up video to...

Testing Needed: Apple CD/DVD Driver 1.4.8 Universal For 7.1 - 9.2.2 (SCSI Drives)

Do you think it would make sense to merge this Mac Garden page with the below? It has a collection of three other variants of hacked Apple optical drivers. https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/apple-cd-rom-extension-patched BTW, you may have seen this already but there's this classic article...
