Trouble getting DaynaPort working on the Macintosh Classic using RASCSI

Well, at least you know it's not your fault. I can check which version I'm running and let you know, so you can use that one in the meantime until the bugfix surfaces?

Trouble getting DaynaPort working on the Macintosh Classic using RASCSI

Stupid question, i know, but if you open up the web control panel of your RaSCSI, is the Daynaport hardware mounted e.g. on SCSI ID#6? (And created?) I got RaSCSI troubles myself but the Dayna stuff actually worked fine and according to docs for me.

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

Lol, just my reaction. Keep the stuff for filling into a pillow :-) Seriously: yikes ... disgusting.

SimCity 2000 cheat patch -- anyone remember it?

On your SE you'll want to play the original b&w Mac release, first download here: http://macintoshgarden.org/games/simcity As for Sim City 2000, we used to run it on our family LC back in the day! It became painfully slow when the city grew (i remember waiting a minute or so for changing the...

SimCity 2000 cheat patch -- anyone remember it?

Don't know of that debug mode. Wasn't even aware of that patch. But there's the FUND cheat as I've documented here on my Mac OS cheats emporium that keeps pouring "investment money" into city :-) For special nostalgia flash, open the above page from *within* your sheepshaver Mac OS install...

QuickTime encoding for System 7 68k

Yes, Quicktime had an MPEG2 codec too. But that requires some oomph on the Mac-side. What's the raw material you want to encode? A modern mp4 container to Quicktime? For ease of use, I'd use Quicktime Pro and use Cinepak as codec. I don't know if that is still supported on modern Quicktime...

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

I'm doing that PowerPC challenge all year! :-D ... seriously, my Power Mac G4 MDD is my daily driver at home. I delegate the required "modern stuff" (online banking etc.) to my smartphone but do everything else with my PowerPC Macs. You can do a surprisingly lot of stuff with them - but you need...

    A lightweight theme ?

Well, I think that title goes to System 7 Today which has a front-end allowing you to visit the forum on your System 7 Mac. But! With a lightweight theme Tinker Different would open up to a whole bunch of older systems and frankly, posting stuff from our beloved oldies is much more fun than any...

    A lightweight theme ?

Hey there, any chance you could add a lightweight theme to the forums for those of us who still cling onto their old PowerPC Macs? Thanks for considering!

    Good TFT for a 512K case ?

First things first - no little 512K Macs were harmed! ;-) I inherited a 512K Mac with nothing except the CRT inside. The CRT since went to a collector as spare part and I'm left with the case. I thought about what to do with it. Feels it'd be wrong to put something trivial like a Raspberry Pi...

    Recapping a PowerMac 8600 PSU

There are PSUs that are relatively easy to recap. There's some that are tough. And then there's the PSU from my 8600. Oh my god. All the caps appear to be glued in. That's not even the worst. The copper of the board is. It's so thick on both sides that it's impossible to de-solder any parts...

Any SCSI to Ethernet solutions on the horizon?

Thanks guys for the helpful answers! @eric - I actually went the used card route before but couldn't get it to work (see here). Too bad there's no activity on Ronan's project - sounded very nice. I guess I'll take a good look at RaSCSI!

Any SCSI to Ethernet solutions on the horizon?

Hey all, I know there's solutions from Dayna & others from 30 years ago, but I wonder if there's any contemporary SCSI to Ethernet solution available or in the planning? Or does anyone know what happened to Ronan Gaillard and his SCSI2Ethernet board? Any plans to make them available "for the...

OS X PPC CPU Temperature Monitoring

I've been using iStat Pro for years on my OSX machines. It's a Dashboard widget (finally a useful one!) and reports back all temps available to it.

    Harpoon

I think I can understand the fascination with Harpoon. Part of me really longs for "diving" into such a game that captures your mind like a great book does. But I guess just the software itself doesn't cut it, one needs the box with manuals, charts and such to really appreciate the simulation...

Problem with IIci and NuBus cards (Solved!)

Now that's a very interesting topic. I've experienced the same issue with my IIci. I got a card from @fogWraith and no matter what I tried, I couldn't get it to work. Tried the official drivers, tried Glenn Anderson's drivers, various Open Transport versions, different slots etc. etc. I came to...

    Harpoon

Never played Harpoon either but I know it had some followers among the Macintosh crowd. It just look intimidating from watching the screenshots, much like the original war games. (you really need to be a high school student with lots of time and patience to get in) Still, part of me is sad I...
