    Why is my Mac sad?

Parallel port zip maybe ? They actually made zip drives that could do both scsi and parallel. but you could just get the parallel one if you find one. Mac OS's 7+ can read FAT disks with software was called "pc exchange" or something. I think it came bundled by OS 8... you could use a bootcd...

Question about mac discs from ebay

How much ram does your SE/30 have ? i'm pretty sure 7.1 can work with dirty 32-bit. the memory control panel has an option to be in 24-bit or 32-bit. so it shouldn't matter if the SE/30 is clean or dirty 32-bit. those disks looks like reproduction disks. Thats is, somebody downloaded the disk...

    Why is my Mac sad?

Fascinating. I wonder if you had access to a linux box. you could run something like dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/path/to/scsi/device there might even be a specific offsets you could use to wipe out the specific part of the drive that holds the SCSI driver. Maybe there is something like this in...

    Dark mode vs. Light mode

would this be the correct thread to report any bugs? I noticed when writing a message. if the box needs to change size, the menubar (of the forum) flashes. You can most easy reproduce it by replaying to a thread and hit enter a few times to cause the textbox to grow.

    Why is my Mac sad?

I'm not sure what the consensus would be. But that seems like a reasonable assumption to me. SCSI to SD adapters are very popular right now. You can try to get one of them. MacSD, BlueSCSI, or RaSCSI are a few. But i'm prolly missing a few. But if you are cool with SD cards as a hard drive...

    Why is my Mac sad?

How i go about troubleshooting is try to hypotheses what is broken and then try to prove myself wrong. Based on your description of what happened when it locked up, and what happens when you start it, i wonder if something is wrong with the system folder. try holding the shift key when turning...

    Mac Plus.. ticking analog board

    1. not a dumb question 2. nope you don't. no need to connect the floppy up. Some of us even make really long cables so we can easily connect the logic board and the analog board without having to put the logic board back into the case. but with the 128k/512/plus macs thats a bit harder to doo....

Disk Jockey, a disk image file maker for your retro stuff - Beta for version 3!

    >It has been notarized by Apple so you know it won’t mess anything up. SAY WHAT ! so grateful you are taking advantage of that feature of modern mac os. it feels like most people don't bother. (i have no idea what it takes to get apple to notarize apps...)

Easy way to transfer files to and from iMac G3?

for awhile i used to use a2server. which was linux image + scripts + patches to get apple talk working. Basically you would setup a linux server (maybe in a VM on your computer) and any old mac could talk appleshare too it. and any modern computer can use modern file sharing with it. the webste...

Easy way to transfer files to and from iMac G3?

another option would be to setup a ftp server on your Air, then you can ftp files back and forth that way. (or setup the ftp server on your iMac and ftp from your Air.....) It would be more work to setup than just use a USB drive. ....

Steve Job's Macintosh SE used at Next could sell for $300,000...

The hard drive has evidence that it was used by various different people through the years by jobs and others around him. Has evidence about what Steve Jobs was doing during this time frame. that is, they have more proof than simply putting his name in the title. i guess somebody could have...

Youtube essay: Why these two Steve Jobs biopics are not the same

Which talks about two specific Steve Jobs films that came out right after he died. the Michael Fassbender one and the Ashton Kutcher one. It made me think differently about both films... ... I still don't like Seth Rogen's portrayal of Steve Wozniak.

TashTwenty - Single-Chip DCD (Hard Disk 20) Interface for Macintosh

i currently use a floppy emu as a hd20. but i would still buy one of these. that way i can keep the floppy emu as a .. floppy emu instead of a hd20 emu. would even buy it as a kit and build it if you have the boards.

    Intorduction

Today i learned! i even try to get OS9 to install on G4's that only support OS X. there is a thread someplace here where people talk about the pros/cons of OS9 on Mac Mini. (it seems the built in speaker doesn't work but you can work around it with using the mic port or something) via help at...
