did you follow the zero track alignment document and that fixed the issue ? I have a few floppy drives that were made worse after i tried servicing them. Perhaps i just need to align the zero track.....

I think its safe to say that RAM sim is bad. As the problem seems to follow it when you put it in different slots. I'm guessing they are 256k ? i'm guessing you can't simply remove it and work. I found this memory guide that might help...

yes. the RAM is also video ram. So if you can replace the bad ram that will prolly be cleared up on screen. The low chime and flop flop flop might be something else. i'm not sure.....

maybe it means that bottom RAM sim is bad ? Do you have other sim's you can swap in ? maybe you could try just reseating it / use some deoxit ... my guess is one of the RAM SIMs is bad. (and not any kind of bad solder or anything)

i usually find its more trouble then its worth trying to disable bits of the OS you don't like. You will end up with strange and unexpected behavior. Better just to hide stuff you don't like. (Finder and the Dock are two other examples)
