SE/30 gray screen with cursor post recap when SCSI drive attached

Just to confirm, if you attach a SCSI device but still attempt to boot from a floppy, you get the grey screen, is that correct? So just the existence of a SCSI device on the bus stops it from booting?

Mac Plus with BlueSCSI DB25 SCSI Hard Drive Emulator

I've done the same on my Mac Plus and it works a treat! I used a 1N4007 diode (because that's what I had at hand) and it works.

    Snooper serial loopback plug

I don't suppose you could post some nice, clear hi res pics of both sides of the NuBus card please? I'd love to reverse engineer it.

    Snooper serial loopback plug

I've figured it out (and made a pretty diagram). I've tested this in Snooper and it passes the handshake and data tests successfully. I hope it's of help to others.

    Snooper serial loopback plug

Hi all, The Snooper software (originally made by Maxa, then later by Central Point Software) used to include a NuBus diagnostic card as well as a small, black, serial loopback plug for testing the serial ports. I'm not too fussed about the card, but does anyone have one of these loopback...

    Multimeter recommendations: auto-ranging?

Your budget will play a big part in making a suitable recommendation. If you're after a cheap unit, here's my review on the Kaiweets KM601:

    How do you pronounce “LIDO?”

It's Bon-die. I promise you that if you come to Sydney and ask for directions to Bon-dee, you will get laughed at.

    Compact Mac Caps List

@Elemenoh I used to use sizes C and D, but have recently started using size B instead of C. Slightly easier to solder. I still use size D for the bigger ones though. I haven't updated the guides yet.

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

Tuesday 11th Jan 2021 I had a very late start to the 2022 PowerPC challenge, as I had non-stop work from the moment the challenge began. Some of this could have theoretically been done on a PPC, but it would have slowed me down, which wasn't really an option. Not to mention that the challenge is...

    Mac SE FDHD issue

There are 2 options (that I know of). Either grab one from another SE board, or you can use a 342S0440-B PLCC ADB chip from a Mac Classic, and use this nifty little adapter created by @Kai Robinson.

    2022 PowerPC Challenge!

Introducing the 2022 PPC Challenge! The gang from Mac Yak have been running the PPC challenge for a few years now, and the 2022 challenge is almost here! Mac SE FDHD issue

I got a little further into the boot sequence and the cursor was actually on the screen, but I couldn't move it and it would hang during startup. I replaced the ADB chip and that fixed it.

    Mac SE FDHD issue

@Kai Robinson, no I was still able to see the cursor, I just couldn't move it.

    Mac SE FDHD issue

@Kai Robinson, any ideas? It looks like he's getting the initial grey screen, but not advancing to the cursor.

Advice re: What to do with MacBook2,1 (Late 2006)--Worth Repairing?

That's not a laptop prone to capacitor leakage, so I'm at a complete loss as to what that liquid might be. As to trying to find a worth for an item like this? Not much. It's a bit new to have vintage appeal, but too old to be really useful. 10.7 (Lion) is newest OS you can put on it. If it were...

    Macintosh 128K Peripherals

I could be wrong, but I think that's an 800K floppy drive in there too, so I suspect it's had a 512Ke upgrade. @patro85 I'd sure love to see some photos from inside that Mac!

Please help - I think I just blew my SCSI chip on my SE/30

Some SE/30s have self-healing fuses, others don't. If the board has the flat, metal, rectangular type of fuses, they are self-healing, so if that's the case, it's probably not the fuse.

    SuperDrive (floppy) maintenance

As mentioned by others, the 800K and FDHD auto inject drives are very similar. Are you perhaps referring to the manual inject drive? The one with the black flap at the front?
