Most people seem to want birdseed PNP'd so that looks like the route I will go down ;) As much as I would like to get both sides PNP'd it's would probably cost more than I could afford to do that so it's gong to have to be bottom side only (Plus there is not actually that much that could be...

Right, Have made the necessary alterations to the board and am having a look at getting a run made Purple seems to be the most popular colour so we will be going with that Do you guys want them with the bottom birdseed PNP assembled? Doing some rough pricing you would probably be looking at £60...

    Ultrasonic Cleaners and ESD

The cleaners should come pretty much wired for option 2 from the factory, the metal housing and steel pan of the unit will be connected to mains ground so as long as you are connected to a grounded outlet static buildup on the pan should not be a issue. If your still worried you can go with...

    Induction Soldering

I have a Thermaltronics something or other that's the equivalent of a Metcal MX-500 (uses the same tips) It's certainly a very capable station but I have really struggled to find tips I like for it, I usually use a 2mm bevel with my FX-951 but that just doesn't seem to exist form thermaltornics...

Reviving a sad looking Quadra 840av

Time to return to this after another 18 months, With progress this time! It lives :) How did we get here? Well first off I ended up killing the PSC when removing it for cleaning. This was entirely my fault for using too much heat as I couldn't be bothered to get the IR preheater out or the low...

Purple with HASL was £75is so I would assume Green ENIG would be around £80-£85

Yeah, guessing that black FR4 is either really expensive or they have to order a massive lot of it

Plain PCB's but that was for a black FR4 core, clear soldermask and a ENIG finish. PCBWay don't actually offer 4 layers on black FR4 as standard so it was a special order item. Was expecting it to be expansive but not quite that expensive!

I had a quote back form PCBWay, $2300 for 5! yeah I think I'll pass on that. Will have to go for a normal colour. So for those interested, what colour would you like? I will probably only do a single colour so I'll go with whichever is most popular The boards have now been fully tested and work...

    Hotline in 2024?

Very nice, wasn't aware there where modern clients still under development Might end up moving my server over to hotline as wired is now getting very old and unsupported (Plus it always lacked any proper cross platform compatibility or any compatibility with classic Mac OS)

Reviving a pile of xbox 360's

First off I know what you're thinking, those aren't retro! I didn't think so either, then I remembered the original version came out in 2005.... I guess these are officially vintage now! I have a pile of xbox 360 boards I have been keeping for years back form when I used to repair these...

Board has been assembled and..... Booted almost the first time, I made two small assembly errors (swapped two transistors and rotated a 26LS30 90 degrees form where it should be) and the crystal for the audio circuit was bad. No changes where made to the board to get it to boot :) after a...

    Parametric PGA socket

I have been printing the holes at 1.8mm bottom and 2.2mm top, quite a lot bigger than the actual pin but this is partly probably down the the fact I have never really aligned my printer

    Parametric PGA socket

Can confirm these work really well :) Printed in PETG on my totally uncalibrated Ender V2. Ideally you need a chip in the socket when soldering as the pins may move otherwise I did have to open up the size of the holes a tad to compensate for the resolution limit of the printer

Something I have been working on recently: It's a near 1:1 reproduction with some minor rerouting where this made sense. Boards are on order, should be here in a couple of weeks Not much more to say (other than thanks to @Kai Robinson for providing the donor board I used) you have all seen...

    Shady eBay seller laptop-better-battery

Common tactic with eBay battery sellers I'm afraid. Unless your buying from a known brand it's safe to assume anything on eBay will only be warrantied for the length of the eBay money back grantee. Only other thing you can try is you paid through PayPal and it was less than 180 days ago you can...
