    Battery rebuild service?

Not a re-built one, but this a newly made battery for the Mac Portable that I purchased off eBay. They accepted my best offer of $50 (down from their $55 asking price), https://www.ebay.com/itm/312370924770 - good luck!

A great (and perhaps little known) feature of SheepShaver

Yes, if you go to the Preferences you can add a volume. It supports .HDA files from my BlueSCSI, which also worked with my RaSCSI. It's a very convenient way to write files to, or make, disk images.

    Finally, a nice Quadra 840AV

I am beyond jealous... but congrats! Install a few fun NuBus cards and put it to work. 🤓

Using an Adaptec PowerDomain 2930 SCSI Card in Mac OS X with my Nikon LS-2000 Film Scanner

Hello everyone, I recently installed my Adaptec PowerDomain 2930 SCSI card in my PowerMac G4 (MDD Dual 867MHz) in order to use my Nikon LS-2000 slide/negative scanner. I spent quite some time figuring this out, so I figured I'd share this adventure to help anyone out in the future. I've been...

How to convert DMG and other formats to ISO (for RASCSI)

Try copying the disk image to the desktop (startup volume) of the emulated Mac HD. Sometimes things get messed up if the image file is on the "UNIX" shared folder and the program tries to mount it. If the Virtual CD/DVD utility fails, try using Adaptec Toast 4.x or later to mount it

How to convert DMG and other formats to ISO (for RASCSI)

You're welcome! It appears it made a disc image per track each track. So Track 1 (data) may have made the .iso file, and Track 2 (audio) may have been made into the .cdr file. If you double-click on them, does the image mount to reveal the contents?

How to convert DMG and other formats to ISO (for RASCSI)

Some discs are archived in Bin/Cue format to preserve multiple tracks, sessions, or audio CD sessions. Most older versions of Roxio's Toast can handle converting these. If you don't have Toast there are a few command line utilities that can help you out too. This article shows off Toast and...

Any SCSI to Ethernet solutions on the horizon?

I second the mention of the RaSCSI. The ethernet over SCSI functionality works wonders! I made a video about it here: Please note, that my video was made while things were still a bit in development and experimental. A lot has changed to improve the ease of enabling this, so check the latest...

Releasing my Macintosh Shareware in the Internet Archive, including registration keys and source code!

This is awesome... (y) Thank you Marcio! This is very much appreciated and very cool to see archived. I love seeing this stuff get preserved by the original creators.

    Board term limits?

Yes, as others have mentioned our priority was to launch and get things started. It was impossible to solidify the structure and rules of these processes without having some of our vacant roles filled. Now that the board is populated there are a bunch of things that we're currently discussing...

    Color Classic Crash Chimes

I'd start by getting some IPA (99% isopropyl alcohol) and a toothbrush and do some gentle scrubbing around the capacitors. It won't prevent them from leaking, but it will clear off some of the nasty stuff that is on there now and buy you some time.

    Sonic Blaster sound card

Nice! I know nothing about this card, but it is beautiful.

    Finally, a nice Quadra 840AV

Thanks Kai! I did touch up the pads (or even remove the chip) U12, along with whatever is to the left (in the photo) of C27, that's why there is some solder mask there. I'll try to map things out with the multimeter. I've done so much work on this board over there years it's hard to remember...

    Finally, a nice Quadra 840AV

Hmm, it does seem "okay" to me on the surface, but who knows. This thing has also been through the ultrasonic cleaner at least twice. But anything is worth trying! By chance to you have a rough idea of what chips may be a suitable replacement? Maybe some dedicated multimeter probing in this...

    Finally, a nice Quadra 840AV

Yes, I've tried swapping PSUs, CPUs, and RAM, etc. The CPU and PSU are confirmed working in my Quadra 800. So that leaves me to believe the logic board is the culprit.

Macintosh Portrait Display Repair - Smearing/Pulsing Image on Screen

Excellent! Thank you so much for documenting this! (y) I'll have to do it with my Portrait display one day. Do you know the manufacture date or revision number of your display? Apparently there are two revisions, so I wonder if there are differences between them. So glad you got yours working...

    Finally, a nice Quadra 840AV

Best of luck with the Quadra! Yours is in beautiful shape and it has the caddy CD-ROM bezel. ❤️ Sadly it sounds like you have the same issue mine is having, power LED turns on, PSU fan spins, and nothing else. Does the CPU get hot? Mine does pretty quickly - but the rest of the board seems...

Reverse Engineering the Macintosh LC Logicboard

Wow, an exciting project! I realized in my collection I have an LC II and LC III, but not an LC (which I swore I had at one point). Getting one of these logic boards would certainly help scratch that itch. Well done! 👏
