Greetings all!
Buried in a 7100 I ran across this thing:
After some research, it turns out this is a Sonnet 604e processor upgrade for the x100 series PDS slot.
I now have it mounted in my 8100, and it didn't blow up!
Unfortunately it's not working either.
I might be mistaken, but from what...
I believe these from Silicon Insider should work - at least according to the table: https://www.tindie.com/products/siliconinsider/purpleram-256kb-68-pin-vram-simm-macintosh/
Since I don't know all that much about PPC past 601 a question popped up while rummaging through parts bins:
What's the best way to identify what "generation" G4 CPU daughtercard one has?
Hopefully this thread can be turned into a valuable resource for anyone with the same question.
And what...
Just noting that I love that you went back to this idea.
And that I'm following it very closely as I have a 6100, a NuBus G3 upgrade, and a HPV card looking for the exact treatment down the road, so it'll be interesting to see how you do.

I am of course standing on the shoulders of giants, so they are all based on various guides...
Greetings all.
I recently got a Q700 case with the motherboard and the PSU from a Quadra 650.
The caps in the PSU looked really toasted from a hard life with a million hours in at least soft-power-"on".
I couldn't find a parts list for the caps in this specific one, so I thought I'd do the...
If you have the necessary equipment and skills, you can make your own SATA controller following Xodium's thread here: https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/sata-in-an-old-world-pci-power-mac-impossibru-updated-9-21-22.1494/
If you don't, and you don't mind paying a bit more for oven-ready...
That's an impressive feature set for sure!
I might have a machine or two in need of one of these.
One thing caught my eye: Talk to me about that fan you have in the LC475?
