What is the thickness of RAM SIMMs (30 pins)

Thanks! JLCPCB offers 1.0 and 1.2, so ordering 1.2 seems to be the right choice (the ones I got were in the default 1.6 thickness, which is far too much)

What is the thickness of RAM SIMMs (30 pins)

I made myself today some 4MB 30-pin SIMMs, ending up in something quite tidy and nice, but totally useless because I made a mistake ordering the PCBs and were too thick. What is the usual thickness?

    Getting a Macintosh SE Online

On my particular side, I have the RASCSI mounted internally in the expansion card bracket and exposing the Ethernet port , and I love that setup.

    Document repository?

Hello, Coming after this post, I wonder if we could have in “Resources” a section to post documents and books of general interest (service manuals, user guides…).

    Peripheral Interface Guide

@Kai Robinson , wouldn't it better to add a "Documents" entry in the "Resources" section? If we put documents into posts all this material could become just too scattered...

Yes, sure. It’s my Dropbox, but I wasn’t aware of the forum policy to upload stuff

    Macintosh Diagnostics software tools

It depends if you'll decompress from an old Mac or a modern computer. In this case I'm using a modern Mac and I used a tool called "The Unarchiver", which is available for free in the App Store.

    Macintosh Diagnostics software tools

Cool. I'll give a try. SIT are compressed files, inside you have the disk image. As I downloaded it, I uncompressed it already in case you want to get the image: Disk 1: https://www.dropbox.com/s/n1f3o5dgnrwyfzk/MacEKG%3ADisk%20One.image?dl=0 Disk 2...

    Peripheral Interface Guide

Hi, maybe this is well know, but I found by chance this guide for "Service Technical Procedures" and I found it interesting. It has pinouts and switch config for a lot of stuff...

    Getting a Macintosh SE Online

OK, Thanks! I was checking his other GitHub account. Maybe I'm missing something, but all this is about getting online a PC with DOS... I can't figure out how this applies to a Mac...

⚡︎ Mac Plus Analog board outputting only 4v instead of 5v [SOLVED]

Nice. I had the same issue in my Plus and the optocoupler was also the culprit.

    Getting a Macintosh SE Online

The Wifi Modem is cool to use BBS. I made myself one and I could get TCP/IP using PPP, but for that I had to use a Raspberry to run SLIRP, so you'd have to look for some alternative. I guess you can do telnet to a Linux machine in the Wifi network. But even so, in my case it was terribly slow...

    Mac SE Fan Replacement

I'm sure the Noctua will be better, but I checked with a noise meter App and the noise level next to the fan was maybe about 25 dBA (I don't remember well), but for me it was lower enough for not being annoying anymore. The air flow after replacement was apparently better than with the old fan...

    Getting a Macintosh SE Online

I use an old RPi 3B V1.2 (not even the 3B+) and it does the job nicely. I use it internally in the SE/30 using the @PotatoFi bracket and it's a great way to add an ethernet port to the Mac, while also having all the rest of features of the RASCSI.

    Mac SE Fan Replacement

Regarding the fan, if you are in a budget (as I try to be), you could also check something like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32702728947.html?spm=a2g0o.9042311.0.0.27424c4dmFMUYm I got several of those and put on my Classics and in the SE/30 and it does the job pretty silently (it...

Question about ZIP drive eject function

I just got a ZIP 100 drive and I’m checking the unit before definitely keeping it but I don’t have any Mac to connect it now. If I power the drive and I insert the disk it will not eject it. Is this normal? Should it eject the disk when the SCSI cable is not connected? Thanks!
