What is the best technique to remove SMD ICs ?

Thanks, these tips will help for next time. I’ll receive soon the PCB and then the next challenge will be to solder back the chips… I never did this type, with the legs twisted to the inside.

What is the best technique to remove SMD ICs ?

Thanks. In this case the idea is to remove the chips to reuse in a different board. In fact I went ahead and tried this last weekend. I started with the heat gun at 300C but it was too slow, so I went up to 360C and I could remove the chips easily. Now I just hope I didn’t damage the chips…

    Busy Sunday

I like all sort of rices, but nothing better than a well cooked traditional paella. The key is ensuring a rich broth before adding the rice. Typically you'd calculate the right level of liquid you need to cook the rice and then you add a lot of additional water, so the broth is made until it...

    Speed of BlueSCSI 1.0 b

Mac can also format using exFat... no need to go to the dark side for that... ;)

    Speed of BlueSCSI 1.0 b

Revision C was mostly to facilitate using it on Mac that don't provide termpower (a B can be easily converted to C). IMHO, the speed increase, if possible, could come by a optimisation in the firmware, but I think the software is stable since long ago.

    Busy Sunday

Well... you have good intuition, as a type of butter beans are key in the traditional recipe. In principle, there are two that can't be missed... The first one is a kind of green bean, that is used with the pod and we call "Bajoqueta". This is not too easy to find here in Switzerland, but as I...

Interesting solution for LocalTalk to Ethernet bridge

I could get (quite cheap) one of these devices: Asanté Microprint, which is supposed to be made to connect a LocalTalk printer to Ethernet, but I heard that it could allow also to connect a Mac. It worked at first try. I could connect to shared disks of other Macs connected with Ethernet...

    Busy Sunday

I'm from Valencia, Spain, which is the birthplace of the Paella. The traditional recipe has only chicken, rabbit and three types of beans, sometimes also artichoke if it's the season... But there are many variants, which we don't call "Paella", but "Rice". In fact what I did today was more "Rice...

    Advice on PB 145B repair

Well... I received the caps and I got into the job... The disassembly was pretty straightforward thanks to the videos I could watch on this. The caps had leaked, but at least there was not corrosion And the result was quite good! Even the HD works, although it makes funny noises, so I'll...

    Printing in Color

I got a black ribbon of new production from a German eBay seller. Where are you? New Color ribbons can be found in AliExpress, but they sell in sets of 5 or 6 and too expensive if it’s not for sharing. Do you have any experience printing in color with the ImageWriter II… I’m trying to figure...
