Modding the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (Firmware Hack)

I’ll see if I can contact Kodak asking if they’d provide me with a 2.0 update. For the time being, anyone with a 2.0 software update may want to hold off. I’m unsure what hardware / software differences those devices may have.

Modding the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (Firmware Hack)

That's very odd, I'm using this one on my model now. Do any of the others work? I admit maybe I uploaded some of the wrong ones, the process is convoluted at best and the files all end up the same names. Was your model originally running v1.0 or 2.0? Sorry for the mix up, I'll double check...

Modding the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (Firmware Hack)

Which modified version did you try? I can confirm with my device, there is a chance I mislabeled one. Thankfully reverting to the previous firmware is possible. I had dozens of different versions so my apologies if I got any mixed up.

Modding the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (Firmware Hack)

Thanks! I’ll see if I can get my hands on one of them. Did the menu appear any differently otherwise? If you have any photos feel free to attach them.

Modding the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (Firmware Hack)

Ah wow. I’m curious, is yours labeled as “Reels” or “Reelz” and can you share where you purchased it from and your country? Thanks!

Modding the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (Firmware Hack)

Oh wow, so I guess your model had a 2.0 firmware? I heard there may be new units floating around, but I haven't confirmed this. I can't determine if there is a built-in feature to dump the firmware via software. I suppose at least it could be done via the EPROM programmer like I did. I have...

Modding the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (Firmware Hack)

I've made a video showing some of the differences when using the modified firmware with the enhanced video bitrate and various sharpness settings. It can sometimes be hard to see the differences, but in the right scene it can really help. Especially since you'll likely be zooming in or cropping...

Modding the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (Firmware Hack)

I don't have the device myself, but someone emailed me these firmware files for the Wolverine M1100 / MM100 Pro and a Reflecta. It appears that it ups the resolution to 1440 x 1080 at a bitrate of 7200. I've attached them below. Of course, I haven't tried these, they may blow yours up etc, good...

Modding the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (Firmware Hack)

In this thread I'll be discussing my adventures in modifying the Kodak Reels 8mm film digitizer firmware. First I'll explain how I started, my goals, the the results, some tidbits I learned, and how-to do this yourself. This will be a lengthy post, but my process may be helpful to others and I...

Recreating the Mac's CUDA / EGRET microcontroller chips - can it be done?

Hello all, As someone who repairs a lot of systems, the CUDA / EGRET microcontroller chip is one of those pieces that is getting harder and harder to replace. It would be amazing if these chips could be replaced by a modern solution so we can save more 68k / PowerPC Macs! I was doing some...

    BlueSCSI v2 - DaynaPORT WiFi!

I've contributed to the WiFi DaynaPORT wiki in an attempt to make the set up process a bit smoother for you eager beta testers. It now covers some basic steps for both MacTCP and Open Transport methods. It's very exciting to see everyone testing this out... that WiFi desk accessory is soooo...

    BlueSCSI v2 - DaynaPORT WiFi!

Great new beta feature! 🎉 I've tested this on my Mac LC III (7.5) and Centris 650 (7.6). I can even install Open Transport 1.3 and the AppleShare client update to connect to my Mac Mini G4 over the network! Granted, at this stage this is really only usable for web browsing, BBS, email, etc...

Newer Technology SCSI Dart / SCSIdart driver or software

Yes! The issue was four of the RAM modules were not playing happy with the system. I also had to figure out how the device worked. When it gets power, the "Ready" light blinks once or twice. If that light turns off and the "Access" light blinks 4 times, then there is an issue with the modules...

Newer Technology SCSI Dart / SCSIdart driver or software

Hello, I'm looking for a driver or software package that shipped with the Newer Technology SCSI Dart, a RAM disk drive. Any leads would be great! I've checked the usual places, but nothing so far. It is also possible it could carry an odd name. Thanks, -Steven

    Apple T-Shirts Book -- 1000 shirts!

Yes! I remember getting this book in the early 2000's and being confused that those images were missing. Thankfully at the time the website was still up (and now it's archived). I remember trying to reach out to the author once, but I don't recall every hearing back. I'm glad this wonderful...

Macintosh IIci - No chime or video after recapping. Any ideas?

Thanks Kai! Q2 gives me -11.8 V on the middle pin and -5 V on the right pin. This is appears to be the same on the working IIci. I will however check on everything else you suggested too, thanks! Update: Swapping the RTC didn't change anything. Swapping the ADB chip didn't change much...

Macintosh IIci - No chime or video after recapping. Any ideas?

The only chip that got hot (126 F) was UC4 (behind the serial ports). And seeing as the other working IIci is happy without it, I removed it from the problematic system. However that didn’t seem to make much of a change. It seems the color / pattern I see when pressing the reset button changed...

Macintosh IIci - No chime or video after recapping. Any ideas?

Hello all, I'm working on a particularly unhappy Macintosh IIci board. After a recap and repair of the startup circuit area, the system turns on (with a green LED on the board), but I don't get a chime. The speaker does "pop". I'm using known-good RAM and the PSU is good as well. When I turn...

Help restoring a newly acquired Lisa

This is part of the design of the Lisa system. I believe a relay simply cuts off the power, thus the not so graceful shutdown. Every Lisa I've seen has done this. It is a bit jarring, but that's how it was designed.
