Right. That is why to test it and, if it works, have a new FPC printed with a Gerber file that will change the key placements, the size, etc. :sneaky:

ISTR something about Wombat not being intended for wireless compatibility?
The Wombat interprets from USB to ADB or ADB to USB, that's all. Suitable for test benches, using ADB keyboard with a modern computer, or using USB with vintage Macs or Apple IIGS.

Each of my vintage Apple computers is hooked up to a Wombat. Then, each Wombat is hooked up to a USB KVM. From my USB 2.4 GHz wireless keyboard and mouse with the dongle in the KVM, I can switch between my four computers, including my modern daily driver, on the fly without any issues. 😛

Did the keyboard cost you some pounds? I noticed the British pound in place of the number hash for the number 3 key. Interesting UK layout.

Oh! The backspace and | \ keys are gone!

What's that paper covering over that area where two red jumper wires running into?

What did you yank the LCD screen from?

Fantastic job with the yanking and laying out, @-SE40-! I am excited to see how your project goes! :) (y) 🥳

LC II - 16 MHz 68030, up to 16-bit color video
LC III - 25 MHz 68030, up to 16 bit color video

Do that next project? ;)

Okay, a bit difficult to find the actual dimensions of the LC III logic board, but I understand that the LC III case is 2.9 H x 12.2 W x 15.3 D (measured in inches).

So, knowing that the area for the HDD and FDD is about 8 inches, give or take. Then, the PSU is about 3 inches wide, give or take. That means the logic board's dimensions are estimated at about 1 H x 9.2 W x 7.3 D (in inches). The 1-inch height estimate is due to the SIMMs.

Wondering about the thickness of that KBD assembly? I suggested the cheapos I'm using because that would not be an issue.

While mechanical and so being much too thick for your build, the IIgs KBD is Snow White purity incarnate. If you can noodle out a rubber dome membrane interface with printed adapters for an unmodified set of its chickletized keycaps, I think you'd be good to go?

Characters printed on lower left corners of chickleyt keycaps in italics mesh nicely with the look and feel of that prototype?

Explanation's likely not clear, in visual thinking/morning musing mode.
